Afternoon RBB, All...
...found the first chrysalis!!!
What am I talking about you ask?
A few weeks ago I noted there were caterpillars aplenty all over a bush I have. This plant was called “butterfly weed” of “butterfly plant”, I forget. I figured it attracted butterflies and what could be bad about that.
Anyway, those caterpillars turned out to be monarch butterfly caterpillars, the plant was covered with them and they were perfectly beautiful. They stripped that plant bare, they did. That plant was a milkweed which is the only plant that monarch butterflies use for their eggs.
Anyway, there are still some caterpillars left on the plant but the bulk of them disappeared, fat and beautiful....orange, black and yellow they were. We read up on them and they do, after getting fat and happy as a caterpillar, turn into, of course, a chrysalis, forgive my spelling. They can travel up to 80 feet before becoming a chrysalis and husband and I were heartbroken that our children left us. We’ve been showing all manner of neighbors and children our “nursery” and...
Anyway....TODAY I FOUND A CHRYSALIS! Beautiful thing even wrapped up like a mummy it is. Hanging from one of my, get this, indoor plants, a rubber tree, that I put outside in the summer.
So they are alive and within a week or so, a beautiful butterfly will emerge and it is THIS generation of the monarch which will migrate.
I’ll deal with that separation anxiety when it happens.

My mayor is an idiot, my governor is a racist, an idiot and an obama clone, senators and members of congress are idiots.........and the president, well, DO NOT get me started! Obama is a puppet, a fraud, an illegal alien, a marxist, a fool, a racist and a liar.
Get all the counseling you need, but you can definitely turn this around into an opportunity to open up the discussion with your students, and enlighten them about the differences between various forms of government, and the duty of citizens to participate in those systems that allow it.
Remind them that voting their conscience is important- citizens have the privilege of voting in elections and on juries and they are important responsibilities. Explain how just because someone says “vote for me” doesnt mean they HAVE to vote for them, and just because a politician says something does NOT mean that people do not have the right to DISSENT.
In a FREE country, everyone has the right to express their own opinion, and you can segue into letting them know that you have opinions that may be different from the ones the usurper expressed. And that that is okay.
This is ahem, a learning opportunity or whatever he said about the cambridge situation. You can use this attempt at indoctrination to de-program them.
Of course, my kids will be nowhere near the schools that day.
