A noteworthy update to President Obama's light schedule this week, considering the rumors about his religion that lingered throughout the 2008 campaign. From the White House guidance for Tuesday:
In the evening, the President will host a dinner celebrating Ramadan and highlight the contributions of American Muslims in the State Dining Room. The President's remarks will be pooled press.

Ramadan is celebrated every day for a month. Moslems meet at each other's homes through the period (usually most heavily on weekends) to FEAST.
It's fast all day; eat all night.
We had a disaster in my neighborhood this weekend. For the first time in decades it didn't end up smelling like one of the world's finest barbeques along toward sundown.
Instead, people were trying to get their power back ~ had a total failure at about 3:00 PM and it lasted until 7:00 PM so the ladies didn't get a chance to put on all the food that usually goes with this event.
BTW, Saturday afternoon/evening has never been a big Ramadan time around here ~ too many of these guys own small businesses so they "work". Sunday is the big day, and if it ends in midweek, that's a big day too, but not as busy as the last weekend ~ this weekend.
No, doesn't make me happy to see anyone's holiday and traditional celebration interfered with. Still, they went out to the many halal restaurants in the area and brought the food home.
I'm guessing that next year many people in this comunity will go back to the "old ways" which is to fire up the Webber Grill!
