Under FEC pressure, Palin's PAC doles out cash

Sarah Palin’s political action committee, facing scrutiny from the Federal Election Commission, revealed Monday that it had recently made contributions to a raft of mostly conservative Republicans, including Reps. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota and Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee, Virginia gubernatorial candidate Bob McDonnell and Sens. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Orrin Hatch of Utah.

Those contributions, some of which were disclosed in a Friday FEC report, combined with earlier donations to the reelection campaigns of Sens. John McCain of Arizona and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, brought Palin’s committee, Sarah PAC, to the five-candidate contribution minimum necessary for it to be considered a multi-candidate political action committee under federal rules. That status will enable Sarah PAC to dole out larger contributions to candidates going forward.

Multi-candidate PACs are allowed to give maximum donations of $10,000 per candidate for each election cycle, while PACs that do not have multi-candidate status are subject to the individual contribution limit of $4,800 per candidate, per cycle. Sarah PAC jumped the gun by contributing $5,000 each to McCain and Murkowski of before it had secured multi-candidate status, the FEC informed the PAC’s treasurer in an August 19 letter.

The commission, which commonly sends out letters seeking more information from candidates’ committees, demanded that the PAC “request a refund of the excessive amount” from McCain and Murkowski, and also prove that it had contributed to at least five different federal candidates.

Even that won’t necessarily absolve the PAC from penalties, according to an FEC auditor, who wrote “Although the Commission may take further legal action regarding the excessive contribution(s), your prompt action in obtaining a refund and/or redesignating the contribution(s) will be taken into consideration.”

FEC has SarahPAC under a microscope. Obama's hundreds of millions in questionable donations, not so much.

It takes years for the FEC to conduct an investigation. How come Sarah PAC gets investigated so quickly?

You know, I think the RATS used to be somewhat discreet in their double standards. But now they are ‘in your face’ with the do as I say, but not as I do philosophy. It really is getting old!

I LOVE the fact that she gave money to Michelle Bachmann and Marsha Blackburn, love them both. Not happy about giving any money to Lindsey Graham but oh well. Hopefully she only gave him 5 bucks LOL. I wouldn’t be surprised if the FEC is getting strict orders from Obama to try to destroy her Pac

I read somewhere that Graham gave her some startup money for her PAC and she’s returning the favor. Don’t know if it’s true or not.

Their unabashed adherence to Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals precludes discrete tactics.

The fulfillment of the 23 or so Communist goals was done more discretely, and has set us up for this bolder phase of the New Left revolution.

Maybe it is going to take America getting hit upside the head by domestic enemies that will finally wake it up and enrage the Silent Majority into action, on an even more mass scale..

Its all good, either way I’m fine with it. I am SO thrilled to see that she gave money to my other two favorite female Republicans. Michelle Bachmann is AWESOME. She is the 2nd most hated female Republican so I am glad that Sarah gave to her.

FEC has SarahPAC under a microscope.

The "Washington Insiders" know this and the Palin Pac should too. When I was a volunteer for GH Bush's campaign, they told us we could not even use our own pens at HQ because it would be "a contribution in kind" and we had to only use pens provided by the campaign.

For Palin and her handlers are truly not ready for prime time if they don't know every stupid rule.

All these idiotic rules are also why govt. is terribly inefficient and must be kept to a minimum. This is why Obama and the democrats must be tossed out.

This the same FEC that lets Obama take hundreds of millions from the middle east? Or lets the CLintons take money from Red China?

Because it's now the Obama/Alinsky FEC.

The August FEC letter to Sarah PAC also asked for additional information on the purposes of some PAC payments and travel invoices.

They're going "Alaskan anklebiter" on SarahPAC.

I believe the husband of Fox’s Greta helped start Sarah Pac. With Sarah having more free time, she can shop around for DC insiders to manage her PAC.

This is a non-story that C4P completely blew away.
