STATEN ISLAND, NY, Aug. 29 /Christian Newswire/ -- Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, today issued the following statement on the passing of Robert Schindler, Sr., father of Terri Schiavo.

"Bob Schindler remains an inspiration. In spite of enduring the heartbreaking, court ordered killing of his daughter, Terry Schiavo, Bob never stopped fighting for the rights of others who were disabled or medically vulnerable. His quiet strength in the face of persecution and his compassion for those who were too weak to defend themselves will forever serve as examples of how we should show Christ's love."

In spite of enduring the heartbreaking, court ordered killing of his daughter, Terry Schiavo, Bob never stopped fighting ....

What a welcome HOME day he is having after being persecuted for Christ's sake. Matthew 10:22 "You will be hated by all because of My name, but it is the one who has endured to the end who will be saved. John 15:18 "If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you.

These are the real Catholics not to be confused with the Kennedy Catholics PJ told us about.

I join with Father Pavone in praise of Bob.I spoke with Bob a few times. He suffered everyday because of the death of his daughter. The Schindler family were local for us.Terri went to the same restraints, same schools etc..When Bob and his family were coming back to Pa.we were going to meet for dinner. That was not to be because he had a heart attack.I told him about the terrible loss of my son and he told me what to expect and how to handle it.He was very kind.Bob was a great person and he and his family continued in helping souls who had no voice at hospitals.I know because I sent their loved one to him.Eternal rest Bob.You are with God and Terri now.The Schindler family will be in our prayers,Fatima

A lot of people wanted to think of Terri’s murder as a singular event and a “private family matter”, but I never felt that wayat the time and recent events have made it all the more clear. The culture of death drew Terri’s murder out over a long period of time in order to employ continual public opinion polling to determine what the American people would tolerate. Terri’s murder was a “test run” for the death panels they want to implement nationwide.

He is no doubt with Terri today in Heaven. I am sending my prayers to his family and friends today. God bless this family who had to watch their daughter murdered at the hands of a despicable husband and aided by our country.

I believe you are absolutely right. The similarities to America in the 2000’s to Germany in the 1930’s is very evident.

What I, as a Catholic and firm believer in Purgatory wonder about, is the “confrontation” (if you will indulge me) of two men arriving at the Gates of Heaven at about the same time. One’s name is Edward, the other’s is Robert.

Based solely on what we know of their earthly lives, and on my understanding of Scripture and the Magisterium (and I’m not infallible), my mind’s eye shows an Edward taken over to his book of life and shown all the areas in which he failed to live up to his Christian allegiance. Each segment of his life gone over with a fine tooth comb as he stands there watching while on the opposite page is the list of harm he did and the list of good. Edward’s face turns red and he tries to speak in his booming authoritarian voice, but no sound leaves his throat (or his heart). The harm list is vastly longer than the good, just based on his earthly life and my cognition of Holy Writ. And beside each page what it will take for him to wash that page’s stains of sin from his garments so that he can enter the banquet feast of the King of Glory.

Then I look at Robert. Robert has been offered a chair beside his guardian angel who, at Peter’s behest, holds Robert’s book of life. Robert is shown each segment of his life and the angel and he occasionally laugh at the antics and the love and travail which turned to joy while Robert was on earth. When he gets to the death of his lovely daughter, he feels a touch on his shoulder, turns to look and there she is in all her heavenly glory. She leans down and places her chin on his shoulder while the three of them look at the last pages of Robert’s life on one page and the list of good an harm on the other. The harm crossed out and over it written “paid in full by faith and trust in God.”

Two men, two espoused Catholics, one who turned his back on the teachings of the Catholic Church in order to live the life he wanted to live, do the things he wanted to do and use “social justice” as a weapon; the other who embraced the teachings of the Catholic Church and late in his life devoted his time to the cause of compassion for disabled and vulnerable people.

Two Catholic men stand at the Pearly Gates. One has on a robe covered with the stains of earthly sin, the other is handed a brand new robe, pre-washed in the Blood. Neither man sees the events of the other although they are in close proximity. The first is directed to the “laundry” to wash out the stains on his garment. The other is welcomed by the Welcoming Committee of Angels and Saints as he enters his Heavenly rest.
