Patriarch Bob Schindler has passed away
Jill Stanek
![]()
I just received the sad new from Schindler family friend Bro. Paul O'Donnell that family patriarch Bob Schindler passed away early this morning in a FL hospital.
Bob was 72 years old and died of heart failure. His health had been deteriorating somewhat, but his death was still unexpected. He was admitted to the hospital only yesterday complaining of shortness of breath.

I'm so sad for this dear family, who has endured so much. Bro. Paul told me Bob was never quite the same after Terri was killed by denial of hydration and nutrition on March 31, 2005.
Bob's funeral is tentatively scheduled for Friday, September 4, in the Philadelphia area. Details to follow.
Please join me in praying for the Schindler family's comfort and peace at this tragic time. I know the family is very close, and Bob's death will devastate them.

As someone who was an eyewitness of the quality of the character of Bob Schindler in what had to be the darkest hours of his life, I can tell you that this was a man who steadily exhibited the precious fruit of God's Holy Spirit.
As his precious daughter was being slowly murdered; dehydrated to death by judicial decree; in the midst of his incredible suffering, he took the time every single day to minister to others. And not just his dear family, either. He gave of himself in ways I will never forget to complete strangers who had gathered from all over this land.
My prayers go heavenward for his wife, his son, and his remaining daughter, along with all who loved him, and were loved by him.
Heaven's gain, our great loss. At least for now, until the Day of the LORD arrives and we who have believed are all gathered together into His glorious Presence, to be with Him forever.

Sad ping...
Lord be with the fanily
A truly sad day for America and a very dark point in our history.
May God Bless Mr. Schindler and the entire family. R.I.P.
I find the contrast between the world’s glorification today of Edward Kennedy, a man who helped bring about the political and “legal” culture that could torture Terri Schindler Schiavo, an innocent person, to death, and the true humility of Bob Schindler, to be one that is poignant and stark.
America should be ashamed, and on its collective knees begging God for mercy.
Dear Lord, I ask you to comfort Mrs. Schindler with YOUR peace that defies human understanding. Thank you for answering my prayer and blessing her in ways that will be above and beyond anything she can think or ask. In Jesus Name, I pray.
Your post got me thinking
If what had been done to Terri was done to a Gitmo American murdering terrorist, the looney left would have been yelling from every rooftop demanding an investigation, trial, and execution..
Supports my believe that leftist/democrats are either stupid or evil!!
Prayers up. Rest in peace. I hope you see Teri
They’re both. Evil IS stupid.
We can do things to honor their deaths.
We can start/continue to do the right things instead of the easiest.
We can start/continue talk to others about the right things, instead of being silent.
We can start/continue to speak out and hold our leaders accountable, instead of being afraid.
To truly honor these people and others like them....we need to see them as beacons of light, showing us the way to truth
...and help to save our Country in the process.
The murder of Terri vs. worlds glorification today of Edward Kennedy is Good vs. evil. Terri=where there is life, there is hope. Ted=pro abortion. Not hard to distinguish who was walking in the ways of the Lord - I came to give you life. Satan came to kill/rob/destroy.
Mr. Schindler is now receiving heaven’s reward which is everlasting. He fought the good fight (against evil), he finished his race and now it’s his time to reap what he sowed. For eternity, he will be w/Terri!! Never again to be touched by the filth/evil of this world.
This family surely deserves heaven’s best... I know the Lord is with them, both here on earth, and in heaven..
Thank you for a beautiful prayer to which I agree in Jesus Holy Name ,amen. And for giving us a picture of a true saint that walked among us. May the LORD bless and comfort your heart as well in Jesus Precious Name, amen.
Father and the daughter he loved so much and fought for so hard are together again. May blessings and comfort grace his family.
Bob Schindler - a hero and caring human being.
Granted that Bob was never quite the same but neither were we or this nation.
Pennsylvania freepers for Terri may want to attend Mr. Schindler's service.
I’m not fan of Teddy Kennedy but unless my recollection is incorrect, I believe he was on Terri’s side. The health care plans afloat are inexcusable and it is doubtful that Teddy Kennedy ever saw the current health care bills or knew how anti-person they are.
RIP.
We are just starting to see the punishment God has wrought for this despicable act of cowardice on the part of the Bushes.
What were they thinking in not stopping this is beyond me, Obama has proved that the power of the presidency is practically limitless.
He was charming and kind.
Mr. Schindler was above it all.
God Bless him. A good man, a good father.
I pray his reward is great.

The Schindlers are such an extraordinary family. I don’t think Mr. Schindler will have to wait very long, if at all, to see his beautiful daughter, Terri. God love you, Mr. Schindler ... God love you, Terri. My prayers are with you both. And I’m praying for your family as well.
With Red Ted leading the way.

One of those liberals voted for Terri.
I won't do it to you. "Find me the link..." Kind of petty to argue something from 2005, ya think?
Some democrats voted for Terri. I was kinda busy bk then. I thought it was Ted. Maybe it was another democrat. You gotta remember we were outside baking in the sun and there was Terri news in 2003, 2004 and 2005. Sometimes when somebody's at ground zero like many of us were, we weren't down there counting votes.
I was watching Tallahassee instead and the sad part was that it was the Republicans in Tallahassee who voted against Terri. We can't blame Teddy Kennedy for our RINO reps in Tallahassee even from her own county who voted against Terri. I don't care to argue about who was for or against Terri. Terri's gone. her father's gone, Teddy's gone, and so is Jim King. THE REPUBLICAN FLORIDA LEGISLATURE TOOK TERRI'S LIFE and the REPUBLICAN GOVERNOR and REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT sat on their privileged hands.
Prayers for the comforting of all those who love him
Ted Kennedy (because of his sisters Rosemary and Eunice) was generally on the side of the disabled. However, in Terri’s case he flip-flopped some. He wanted to let her live, but didn’t want Congress to stop the execution.
No injury is so profound or disability so severe that we should diminish the fundamental dignity of the human being, said Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-MA) last week in his opening remarks while co-chairing the Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) hearing on healthcare provided to non-ambulatory persons.

However, Senator Ted Kennedy, a Massachusetts Democrat, wasted no time in attacking the Senate for passing a bill to stop Terri’s painful 13 day starvation death.
Republican leaders abused their positions of power to play politics with Terri Schiavo’s life, he said, according to an Inter Press Service report.
Kennedy also bashed Republicans who have called for a review of the judges who failed to abide by the law Congress overwhelmingly approved.

Lord, please receive your faithful servant with welcoming arms. May Terri and her father’s reunion be nothing but joy. And please comfort the remaining family members - the journey here has been hell for them - we pray for continued strength and grace for them. In Christ’s name...
floriduh voter, as a Floridian, I wished I could have been there...
..I happened to be in Denver for the duration of Terri's ordeal...
..but was praying hard for the right outcome.
It was agony to watch our legislators turn a deaf ear and a cold heart.
So many said our country changed after Terri took her last breath.
We must always believe the best is yet to come but it's not going to happen any time soon.
Freedom is what we need.
I posted this on another thread, but this is what I believe. The culture of death drew Terri’s murder out over a long period of time in order to employ continual public opinion polling to determine what the American people would tolerate. Terri’s murder was a “test run” for the death panels they want to implement nationwide.
I do not believe that the Bushes set out to kill Terri, but I do believe that they failed to make use of constitutional powers that they both could have used to save her.
As far as Ted Kennedy, he started out like Sargent and Eunice Schriver, but somewhere along the way he embraced the culture of death. I think it’s very possible that Terri reminded him of his sister Rosemary and he probably wanted her to live, but he didn’t want Congress setting any pro-life precedent.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Aug. 29 /Christian Newswire/ — The family of Robert Schindler, Sr. releases the following statement:
Robert S. Schindler, Sr., of Gulfport, Florida, father of the late Terri Schindler Schiavo, passed away August 29, 2009 from heart failure at Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Robert fought valiantly to save the life of his brain-injured daughter Terri in the landmark right to life case that culminated in her imposed death by court-ordered starvation and thirst on March 31, 2005. After Terri’s death, along with his wife Mary, daughter Suzanne (Schindler) Vitadamo and son Bobby Schindler, he founded the Terri Schindler Schiavo Foundation in St. Petersburg dedicated to supporting other families faced with the same need to fight for the rights of their disabled or otherwise vulnerable loved ones.
Robert was born in Philadelphia on October 23, 1937 and was 71 years of age. Proceeded in death by his daughter Theresa Schindler. He is survived by his wife Mary, daughter Suzanne Vitadamo (Michael), son Bobby Schindler and granddaughter Alexandra.
A Mass of Christian burial with visitation preceding will be scheduled to take place in Philadelphia, PA. Times and location will be announced at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Terri Schindler Schiavo Foundation, 5562 Central Avenue, Suite 2, Saint Petersburg, FL 33707, phone (727) 490-7603.
It was a test to see what we would allow.
There were some arrests...
..just like there have been 'some' arrests all through the years when good, God fearing folks valued life over convenience...(& I'm talking peaceful dissent like sit-ins at abortion clinics....not violence!)
Years ago, thousands and thousands were arrested...
..but they were charged with RICO and had the book thrown at them...
..it scared them...
..and now, here we are.
May God grant this family His protection and peace, in Jesus’ Name, Amen!
Yep, when possession of FOOD AND WATER is declared a crime, a lot of people turn to crime.

Thanks for this. It totally got lost in the Kennedy stuff.
Unlike Ted Kennedy, Bob Schindler (and the rest of his family) NEVER wavered from pro-life devout Catholicism.
Very sad that this dear man no longer walks this earth. My prayers have never stopped for Terri and for her family. They continue for the repose of the souls of Terri and Bob, and for their family to find comfort and solace through their abiding faith.
Your recollection is incorrect.

the kennedy stuff...what a perfect way to put that
I certainly pray for the Schindler famiy, they really showed us what ‘family’ means. May they find comfort in knowing their husband/father is in the arms of his Lord and reunited with his beloved daughter.
Amen!
