I read the transcript of his remarks on that matter for the first time (I’m not old enough to have first hand knowledge) and I was absolutely appalled at the self-serving puny excuses he offered.
Why he wasn’t completely shunned and reviled by America after that, I’ll never know. I know it derailed his chances for the Presidency but he shouldn’t have even been elected for dogcatcher after that.
Massachusetts really does a number on the rest of the country, huh?
He actually left the scene and reported nothing till the next day. Claims his cousin met him at the scene and they both reported nothing. Ted K used lawyers and connections to prevent an inquest into her death from taking place.
He also claimed preposterously that he almost drowned in attempts to save her. Obviously they left her there to die while he went home to sleep it off.
