I am a school teacher---school shall remain nameless---I am a little put off that I am going to have to drag my students to be propagandized to about good citizenship by this man. I feel bad...I should welcome the chance for students to hear their president---but all he does is campaign and distort---I'm sure it is just another way to suck our kids in...I wanted to warn all of you in those states listed on the email

Makes ya think he’s planning on still being in office and running for re-re-election by the time the little tykes are eligible to vote! ;-)

Obama will make a televised speech to students on Sept 8Oh joy. The world has a reason to carry on until then.

Thanks for the ‘heads up’. First the census, today, NOW THIS? I’m about to the point of where you need to check me with a fork to see if I’m ‘done’.

The President will challenge students to work hard, set educational goals, and take responsibility for their learning "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country."
Now things like health insurance are an entitlement. Now things like teenaged abortion are a sacrament. Now things like legal matters are "social injustice".

ensure that every child in every school receives the best education possible so they can compete in the global economy for good jobs Right now I am competing against people in India who are willing to work for peanuts to do my college degreed job.
We compete in a global economy for these jobs because the corporations get billions of dollars of code built overseas and imported/smuggled through the internet avoiding import duty on the goods and services.

I’m afraid I’ll have to remind my kids to chill. If they get it started there might be a chorus of boo’s and catcalls and then we get to talk to Ms. Assistant Princiapl, a big-city transplant who doesn’t “get” the culture out here.

Since taking office, the President has repeatedly focused on educationWe are still waiting for him to talk about something other than education for crying out lous. Actually I don't remember him ever doing anything on education.
This is the first time an American president has spoken directly to the nations school children (on tape!) about persisting and succeeding in school. We encourage you to use this historic moment

The President believes that education is a critical part of building a new foundation for the American economy. Because actually turning a profit has no place in the American economy.

On behalf of all Americans, I want to thank our educators who do societys most important work by preparing our children for work and for life. No other task is more critical to our economic future and our social progress. Just wow. What a waste of taxpayer money to have this propaganda during a school day. Maybe Obama could better reach the nation's school children by speaking to them via Nickelodeon or the Disney Channel. Also, don't most public schools start in August? We've only lived one place where schools start after Labor Day.

This actually better than what is usually going on in a public school. Sadly.

My kids (one of which just entered 6th grade, already in session here in a Florida CHRISTIAN school) would probably heckle the video, ala MST3K style. She would get in trouble for it and I would punish her properly with a stern admonition ... and a trip to Friendly’s Ice Cream Parlor!

Any chance that if the schools hear from enough parents who do not want their children to see this, it can be scrapped?
