My suggestion is to take a vehicle for a test ride directly to the base and then tell the salesman you're not interested...without signing anything. The huckster can drive the car back to his used car lot.

In norfolk, in ‘71, several of us took cars on ‘test drives’ from differant ‘dealers’ and dropped them off at the base impound area, and gave the keys to the JAG’s office.

What happened after that was above my pay grade; but a couple dealerships went out of business. Rumor was that the credit unions ‘black listed’ the dealerships. No young sailors to take advantage of, no bussiness.
