That would be you. One is 25 times more likely to die wandering is a suburb of Chicago, DC, or Baltimore, than where I live a couple months a year in Mexico. Mexican spainish I understand, american ‘gang-speak’ I don’t. Only idiots would go to the ‘frontera’ in mx - likewise the ‘neighborhoods’ in the US.

I am curious about where in Mexico you live. I have a friend who moved to Cuernavaca and told me how safe it was. She said “it is really really safe, there are guards everywhere”. That only added to my distrust of the place.

We stopped traveling to Mexico years ago because of several incidents that happened to us. My Mexican housekeeper goes home once a year and she is terrified to do so. Her family just got back without incident but others that she knows were not so lucky. These are Mexican nationals with Texas plates on their vehicles.
