Poor Cindy Sheehan: It’s Not Easy Being a Has-Been
Pajamas Media ^ | August 21 | Pam Meister

ust a few years back, she was the media’s darling. Cindy Sheehan, mother of a soldier slain in Iraq, led the anti-war charge against George W. Bush. Egged on by the mainstream media and left-wing activists eager to put a “face” to their cause, she camped out in front of Bush’s ranch in Crawford, Texas. The entire situation became a media circus, with Sheehan at its epicenter. We saw her getting her hair cut at “Camp Casey,” saw her visiting her son’s grave with media flunkies in tow, and watched her get up close and personal with Hugo Chávez. Feted and celebrated, she could do no wrong; she held what has been called an “absolute moral authority card.”

So what exactly happened? Where is Sheehan today? She said she was quitting public life back in 2007 when, according to her post on Daily Kos, her cutting ties with the Democratic Party got her “trashed on such ‘liberal blogs’ as the Democratic Underground. Being called an ‘attention whore’ and being told ‘good riddance’ are some of the more milder [sic] rebukes.” Just a year later, though, she tried to unseat Nancy Pelosi. Perhaps having had a taste of the limelight, she couldn’t help herself. But, as one could have predicted, she was beaten handily by San Fran Nan — receiving less than 18 percent of the vote...

I'll be in the minority here, but Sheehan is a sympathetic - if also pathetic - character. After all, she is the mother of a son who made the ultimate sacrifice. Then, she was used and abused, exploited and then discarded by the left after she (they) had expended her utilitarian value.

She's a grieving mother who's stuck on the second step, and has been for years. I don't dislike or loathe her - I just pity her.

Here the crickets chirp on the Vineyard.

You won't see this scene this week like Crawford.

The media ate her up and now will spit her out.

Charlie Gibson already said," Enough Already"!

....Cindy’s time may just come again....over Afganistan...that one could be a tough nut...it’s littered with the bones of dead foreigners dating back to Kipling’s time...it’s not a country but a collection of tribes...it will be hard to pacify.

The true color of ABC News coverage (or more correctly lack thereof) of Cindy Sheehan regarding Obama’s role in Iraq - Afghanistan is propaganda pink.

If Cindy speaks and the media refuses to notice her,
will she actually make a sound?

She beds down with this country’s enemies. I am not ready to forgive her. She trashed her son’s service then trashed his sacrifice. She has a ways to go before she gets forgiveness from me. A very long way.

"She has a ways to go before she gets forgiveness from me. A very long way. "

I'm not forgiving her, nor am I absolving her of her words and deeds since her son died. But, I am cognizant of the conduct by the left, and the enemies of the US (along with the national media), in using and exploiting a grieving woman when those energies could and should have been better spent getting her some counseling.

In short, she's suffering from some psychological and perhaps psychiatric distress and that merits at least some sympathy.

That hag is still around? Why? Where? With whom? As long as she isn’t in Texas that is fine. Get lost woman. Hate somewhere else.

This woman met and hugged POS Chavez. Her citizenship should have been revoked.
Ignored the sacrifice made by her son and the thousands of other men and women as well.
Bush DID meet with her and thanked her son for his service, despite the MSM/Dem propaganda that he DIDN'T.
We all knew this was going to happen. Leftists exploited her and threw her away like an empty beer can.

It was never about the war with leftists. They just wanted power back. They don't give a damn about Iraq/Afghanistan or the troops.
So no sympathy/empathy for Sheehan. No pity. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Maybe she’s a “sympathetic character” for the reasons you laid out there, but I have to admit that I thoroughly enjoyed seeing her get dragged out of Bush’s State of the Union address by the Capitol police a while back.

At least SHE is consistent.

The left, on the other hand, seem to have forgotten how fervently they wanted us to get out of Iraq, and "No Blood for Oil" and such.

Could it be that they really only cared about getting back into power?

Perhaps. She is certainly one of the leftists you described. She wasn't exploited she was a willing participant. In short she is no victim and I believe she intends to continue exploit innate decency of folks like yourself. She will find no sympathy here.

Cindy Sheehan was clearly used by the left but she was a very willing participant in their phony anti-war protests, often leading the way.

I think Sheehan sincerely was and remains against all wars, which is so easy to proclaim and feel noble when you do, but absurdly naive, especially in this day. She was really annoying during the Bush presidency but at least she was sincere.

This is what happens to 'useful idiots' who are willingly used by the hardcore left and then, once their usefulness has gone, are simply discarded. Its got to be a blow to Sheehan's ego to realize that her leftist 'friends' and 'supporters' in the media and the DNC really were only helping her for raw political purposes and now, they don't need her anymore. Well, you lie down with dogs.....

I agree. One day, she’s going to wake up and have an “oh, my Lord!” moment when she realizes what she has done - and what was done to her.

She is more to be pitied.
