His agenda is sinking into quicksand, and it's only a matter of time before he also grows overwhelmed and heavy from a battle to which he is unaccustomed.

May it ever be so, until he's booted out.

...But something funny happened on the way to far-left governance: The American people began to reject what was about to be inflicted on them. The Democrats did not anticipate that their constituents might like a say in how they were being governed. (That whole "government for, by, and of the people" is so 18th-century.)

Don't ya just love it?

Moncia, if you frequent Free Republic, you outdid yourself with this article! It just drips with good analysis and observation....just WOW and THANKS! (And thanks, fiodora, for the this post, would have truly hated to miss it.)

What we are witnessing is the arrogance of the left that misinterpreted the historic appeal of the 1st African-American President as a mandate for an extreme left agenda. Oh, and then there's this:

President Barack Obama's push for a national health care overhaul is providing a financial windfall in the election offseason to Democratic consulting firms that are closely connected to the president and two top advisers. Coalitions of interest groups running at least $24 million in pro-overhaul ads hired GMMB, which worked for Obama's 2008 campaign and whose partners include a top Obama campaign strategist. They also hired AKPD Message and Media, which was founded by David Axelrod, a top adviser to Obama's campaign and now to the White House. AKPD did work for Obama's campaign, and Axelrod's son Michael and Obama's campaign manager David Plouffe work there.

"imagine how he might react if there were another terrorist strike on the homeland or the Iranians moved to nuke New York or the North Koreans sailed a nuclear-tipped missile toward Hawaii or Alaska."

He would probably go on national TV and ask of the attackers: "How could you do this to me?"...

Excerpt:

...

Mr. Obama has been particularly perplexed by the revolt against his ideas, for two main reasons:

c First, he (like the rest of his party) misread November’s election results as a mandate to impose a far-left agenda without debate. The American people, however, still believe in the quaint idea of robust discussion before ideas are turned into law. They also make up a country that remains ideologically center-right. This week, Gallup released a poll showing that conservatives now outnumber liberals in all 50 states, and that 40 percent self-identify as conservative versus only 21 percent self-identifying as liberal.

...

The second reason involves Mr. Obama’s lack of political combat experience. He has never been hit before. Until the health care blowup, none of his significant political opponents ever really landed a punch. During his early Chicago political career, he ran opponents off the ballot, but such community-organizing manipulation doesn’t translate well nationally. And now he finds himself in the presidency, never having known what it is to take a body blow.

...

The end result is a president who doesn’t know how to take a political hit or repel one without resorting to desperate and shameful attacks on the opposition.

There is a Breitbart story (refer to Drudge) with a graph of the ever increasing lifespan of Americans. It is going up, it has been going up for years. Is that because we have such a lousy or expensive health-care system? Strangely enough, the trends are the same across the board regardless of socio-economic differences. Is that because everyone has access to a really good and affordable health-care system? Where is the crisis Rahm? Where is the crisis Ezekiel? Where is the crisis Nancy, Harry, Barney, Chuckie? Where is the crisis ZERO?

“But as a candidate, he should have experienced the rough-and-tumble”

No way. This guy was insulated from it all by his flunkys and the media.

The guy’s toast as far as his agenda is concerned. That forced community service thing for public school students and college students will also go nowhere. People all across the spectrum are wise to him now.

"A president is always cosseted by his staff. But as a candidate, he should have experienced the rough-and-tumble. "

That's what we get for putting a media-creation in the White House without ANY of the criteria and testing to prove he was anything more than a figment of their leftist wet dreams.

Obama is a political novice. He misinterperated the election. He was elected because:

1. The Republicans had a weak candidate
2. The Economy was tanking and the public (being economically illiterate) tend to blame the party in office which is usually the president although Dems held congress.
3. The MSM failed to inform the public just how radical Obama really was. Many just didn't know. This will be odd to Freepers but the general public is woefully misinformed.
4. Blacks voted for him close to 95%. He could have had two horns and a tail and they would have voted for him because he was black.
5. Hispanics voted for him because he was NOT white and promised "goodies" and many are thinking he will push amnesty (which he will).
6. Democrats-the hard core type, voted for him because they would push the D-Button for Heinrich Himmler if his name had a D beside it.
7. Union members voted for him because they are brainless-mostly.
8. Liberal Whites voted for him out of standard liberal guilt. These folks are beyond pathetic.
9. Young Whites voted for him because they are stupid-again mostly and they think it chic to vote that way.
10. There a sea of stupidity in the American Republic.

But one reason they didn't vote for him is because they wanted Karl Marx. That's what they have discovered and many are having buyers remorse.

Hope we don't get our hopes up too high that the health care crap by King Obama will not pass. It will. Sooner or later nothing will stop the communists party from completely destroying America. The Constitution means nothing and has not for many years. Many Americans are weak and so mentally ill that they couldn’t see the storm until it passes over and destroys everything in it's path. And all the dumb will do is just suck their thumbs and sigh.

Frankly, I'm surprised that the Dems are surprised. They ran into this same problem in '93 and learned nothing from it. Hillary and her panel of "experts" produced a similar monstrosity, slapped it down before the public and said "Here it is. No discussion, take it or leave it, and oh, by the way, leaving it isn't an option." And then they, too, professed amazement when an ungrateful public didn't start kowtowing.

Yes, of course 0bama has no real political antecedents of note and is vastly inexperienced in the nuances of practical politics. But surely somebody on his staff was around then and aware where the mines were buried? Anybody? Bueller?
