Intersting theory. Personally, I think ita all about how Islamists exercise power. Liberals are fascinated with the absolute control that Imams have over their followers. If you can convince someone to be a suicide bomber, convincing them to pay higher taxes should be a piece of cake.

There is certainly an element of truth to that. Just looking at the current trio of fools in the FED displays such desire. But recall the old saying; “The enemy of my enemy is my friend”. It applies quite handily.
