Right-leaning groups say the evidence of a distinct rise in militia-type activity is spotty and that the Southern Poverty Law Center is unfairly lumping isolated extremists in the same category as those who are protesting the administration's economic and social policies.
Conservative groups are rejecting as "anecdotal and exaggerated" a report out of the Southern Poverty Law Center that claims the election of a black president has fanned the flames of a resurgent anti-government "militia movement."
The SPLC report cited a recent rash of ideologically driven violent crimes, rising gun sales, a reported rise in the number of militia groups and level of activity and stern warnings from law enforcement officials about the potential for violence in concluding that "there are unmistakable signs of a revival" since the 1990s.
The assessment said Latino immigration, and particularly the election of President Obama, have injected a "strong racial element" into the opposition movement.
But right-leaning groups say the evidence of a distinct rise in militia activity is spotty and that the SPLC is unfairly lumping isolated extremists in the same category as those who are protesting the administration's economic and social policies, under the umbrella term "militia."
They add that the racism charge is bunk.
"I think it's utter nonsense to say it's racial," said Carter Clews, spokesman at Americans for Limited Government. Clews said Obama's "doctrinaire socialistic approach to government" has triggered a populist backlash, but "it's inappropriate to use the word militia."
The SPLC report came just four months after the Department of Homeland Security issued a controversial report on "right-wing extremists." That assessment carried many of the same themes and warnings as the new "militia" report, also warning that the election of the first black president could be exploited as a recruiting tool...

Oh, Puhlease!
Anything for revenue enhancement...
If there were more militias as they claim, then it should be easier to find one to join. I’m not having any luck. :(
We can't have any of that kind of overthrowing the government stuff now can we? We must all be good little comrades citizens, right?
‘Southern Poverty Law Center’
SPLC and Morris Dees[Child Molester], what a scam.
Chuck Colson wrote an interesting novel a few years ago called “Gideon’s Trumpet” which a militia subplot.
Same trick the Hillbilly Mafia played when things started to sour for them in the early 90’s. These militias are a farse. They are trumped up to distract from the failings of the party and the president. Simply put, they don’t exist. If they did, DOJ would have been on them a long time ago. In things like this, watch the evidence to make a determination how true they are.

The Left using Homeland Security and the FBI for race-baiting those who oppose Obama’s policies are proving that the country is not ready for a Black President.
It is dangerous for the Nation when the President uses his race as an excuse to smear and target his political foes by race.
We have the Left’s equalvant of the Klan leader in power pulling the same racial hate and smear games to target his racial enemies for violence. The racists are commiting race crimes and blaming a targeted race of people they hate as having committed them. They are trying to peg whitey as racially dangerous and inferior. Just like the Klan used to do when the Left had power in that venue.
Those who say, “oh, Obama has whites doing it with him”, should understand that the left had self hating Blacks who joined them when they were targeting a group of uppity blacks for violence and discrimination.
The Ruby Ridge hearings featured several government agents and paid informers who manned the various "militia" and "white supremacist" groups. It seemed to me that without them there would be no such groups.

To be fair the SPLC did a report on Eric Rudolph, the Atlanta bomber, which documented his love of pot and Nietzsche thus, if the MSM employees would look, dispelling the common MSM meme that Rudolph loved Jesus.

Thanks!
That was pretty awesome! I love that guy...We need to see more of him.
And we are huge Sarah supporters...Ever since we went to see her in Richmond last October — We have been onboard.
My husband, son, and I are a militia of three.
We are also big fans of Sarah. We are trying to get her to attend a local BBQ, and a local radio talk show host has agreed to MC the event if we can get her to show up.

“Experts who track liberal abominations across the U.S. are growing increasingly concerned over violent rhetoric emanating from President Obama, especially phrases such as get in their faces and hit them harder, which seem to be inciting union thugs and other paid Obama enforcers to beat up innocent Americans such as Kenneth Gladney.”
