U.S. Rep. Ben Ray Lujan will face his constituents Monday in a town hall event covering America's fiery debate du jour: health care reform.
The meeting will start at 7 p.m. at Santa Fe's Unitarian Church, 107 W. Barcelona Road.
The church has room for about 180 people. The event will feature a panel discussion including two Santa Fe health professionals, followed by a question and answer period.
~~snip~~
In an interview with the Journal, Lujan a Democrat from Santa Fe said he's behind the proposed public health care option being batted back and forth between party members in the House of Representatives and Senate.
Providing patients with choices is an important part of legislation, he said. In today's environment health insurance companies can set rates, but it's not necessarily in a competitive environment. The public option makes an environment where there's more options and you can pick from them.
Lujan said reform will also bring improvements for those who choose to remain in their current plans. If you decide to keep the coverage you have today, consumer protections will be put in there to protect you from denials of your claims, he said. In today's environment, they can deny you a claim without giving a reason. Then it's up to that patient to seek action, like getting a lawyer or by some other means, to refute that decision. It's not right they're treated that way.
If you're sick, if you have cancer, diabetes, or chronic illness you might have been born with, today the insurance companies can charge whatever they want. If they find you have had an illness then they can drop you. This legislation will protect you. We'll make sure insurance companies can't just profit off of your health.

Major lightweight, Daddy’s boy.
Hopefully some real doctors will show up to sound off. The Senate said today that the death panels are out - the ones they said never existed.
Call, fax and get people to the TownHalls.
Bump.
New Mexico list PING!
Of course at a Unitarian church. A bunch of God-hating bastards. Shows how much of an atheist this moron is.
From what i have seen of the Lujan clan they don’t do anything unless they can make a buck or two out of it, so how much are the tickets going to be?
Go SB, lol!
They’re gonna give Eric Serna the t-shirt concession stand.
