Johnny's full of crap and is now doing the backstroke:

Sarah Palin had written on her Facebook page that the House healthcare legislation would lead to government "death panels" deciding which members of society were productive enough to receive healthcare.

UPDATE: Isakson's office has clarified that the Georgia Republican absolutely opposes the House bill, including the "end of life language."

Isakson has offered his own amendment to the Senate HELP Committee bill that would provide for end of life planning, but he argues the House version "incentivises" end of life counseling and provides a government-mandated list of topics.

The House provision is merely another ill-advised attempt at more government mandates, more government intrusion, and more government involvement in what should be an individual choice.

Nevertheless, Isakson has not backed away from his comments that the "death panel" interpretation of the bill is "nuts."

But of course he can't admit it.

What do you expect from a pro-illegal alien RINO like Issakson...

Seems like Sarah Palin read the legislation, Goober Isakson did not.

Why would the creation of a “board of review” for who has the right to live, and who must take the checkout lane, such a stretch?

We are coming into a time of artificial scarcities, made the more so by those who cannot understand the concept of a growing pie to be divided up. For them, this is a “zero-sum” game, with only limited resources, and by golly if they have to be the ones who limit the resources for everybody else, so be it.

...his staff now denies that he even mentioned Sarah Palin’s name..

Well he's full of crap on that too:

Q: How did this become a question of euthanasia?

ISAKSON: I have no idea. I understand — and you have to check this out — I just had a phone call where someone said Sarah Palin's web site had talked about the House bill having death panels on it where people would be euthanized. How someone could take an end of life directive or a living will as that is nuts. You're putting the authority in the individual rather than the government. I don't know how that got so mixed up.

I wonder what consideration babies with birth defects (or DS) will receive under the inevitable single payer Obamacare system?

I wonder what "nascent-life" counseling expectant mothers with such babies will receive.

Eugenics can't be far off.

Isakson Pushes Back on “Death Panels” – But Also on House Democrats’ Bill

But, apparently Obama did not invoke Isakson with the senator’s blessing, and now there is some pushback today from the Georgia Republican who voted against the Senate health reform bill in committee, but did add an end-of-life consultation amendment to it.

“This is what happens when the President and members of Congress don’t read the bills,” says Isakson in a paper statement. “The White House and others are merely attempting to deflect attention from the intense negativity caused by their unpopular policies. I never consulted with the White House in this process and had no role whatsoever in the House Democrats’ bill. I categorically oppose the House bill and find it incredulous that the White House and others would use my amendment as a scapegoat for their misguided policies,” Isakson continued. “My Senate amendment simply puts health care choices back in the hands of the individual and allows them to consider if they so choose a living will or durable power of attorney. The House provision is merely another ill-advised attempt at more government mandates, more government intrusion, and more government involvement in what should be an individual choice.”

In the written statement, Isakson’s office says the House version would “incentivize doctors by offering them money to conduct ‘end-of-life counseling’ with Medicare patients every five years.” And it disagrees with the mandated list of topics doctors providing the counseling must provide to receive the benefit.

He owes Sarah a HUGE apology for calling her a nut. I guess all those phone calls to his office scared him a little

Every five years, the elderly will have to attend a mandatory “advanced care planning consultation” for an “explanation by the practitioner of the continuum of end of life services.” The consultation will be conducted more frequently if a significant change in health condition; including diagnosis of a chronic, progressive, life limiting disease, terminal diagnosis, life threatening injury or upon admission to a skilled nursing or long term care facility

The jackass!
