Not much. It's common in some Muslim countries, but then in most of those countries minority religious groups such as Druze and Christians also practice it.
Meanwhile, there are many Muslim countries where the practice is unknown.
Personally I prefer the old Spanish method of cleansing the family's honor: track down and kill the rapist or seducer.

Islam has been bringing us the best of the Seventh Century for the last 1400 years. And, so it continues.
I’m surprised no one brought this up, but if I were the Australian authorities I would take the victim’s baby away from this disgusting family and try to find hm/her a loving home.
On the basis of the number and frequency of these things, one has to assume that Islam accords a position of greater honor to murder than to compassion.
Calling it the “Religion of Peace” has become a stale and sterile lie.

I'm perfectly well aware this mostly a Muslim issue. I'm just trying to point out that it is not exclusively Muslim and that there are huge parts of the Muslim world where it is unknown.
Here's a post referring to Hindu honor killings in Chicago. It's from a notably anti-Muslim site. The author was excoriated by her readers for not sticking to the meme that all evil is limited to Muslims.

I thought it had an excellent summation of how such practices become permanently embedded in regional versions of Islam.
Islam’s role in these barbaric atavisms is to fix them in place for all time. When any given culture is taken over by Islam, its prevalent customs — provided they do not directly contradict the basic tenets of Islam — are absorbed into sharia and given Koranic sanction.
Once that happens, they cannot be changed. The legitimacy of the Prophet’s words is laid upon them, and restricting them becomes a crime against Islam.
This is one of the characteristics that makes Islam so dangerous to the rest of us — it preserves as if in amber the repugnant practices of a thousand years ago. Slavery, mutilation, murder, pillage: all are justified by scripture, and any modification by mere human beings is heresy.

I also ran across some information that in Italy, not sure about other “Christian” countries, up until the 80s a man who killed his wife, sister or daughter for dishonoring the family name received a greatly reduced sentence. IOW, just about the way the same situation is handled today in Jordan.
The law was changed in Italy 25 years ago, but it does go to show that such attitudes aren’t all that far in the past of some “Christian” nations.
