Washington, DC – Today FreedomWorks released an apology to leftist political organizations including MoveOn.org, the Democratic National Committee, the AFL-CIO and ACORN for our apparent ignorance of the fine art of political discourse.
FreedomWorks’ August Recess Call to Action encouraged grassroots citizens to attend Congressional town hall meetings and listening sessions. We asked everyone to voice their opinions and communicate their opposition to the President’s proposed hostile takeover of the American health care system. Apparently, the very act of showing up and having an opinion is, in effect, to act like a “thug.” Opposing President Obama’s policy agenda on health care is, in and of itself, unacceptable, and has no place in our democracy. Bottom line: it’s “disgusting,” according to our friends on the left.
We didn’t know this. Evidently, we also didn’t know best practices in a respectful, dignified policy debate, but our leftist friends were kind enough to “take FreedomWorks to school”, so to speak.
Specifically, “school” included phone call blitzes from MoveOn.org and the AFL-CIO that jammed FreedomWorks phone lines and filled up staff voice mail boxes. Callers’ consistently used profanity, vulgarity, ever-popular references to “Nazis” and “brown-shirters,” racial slurs targeting an African-American staffer, and even veiled threats of violence and bodily harm.
Now we know how an intelligent political debate unfolds. Thank You!
FreedomWorks would like to share some of the more interesting examples of this brand of debate, graciously communicated to staff via voice mail by some of the more learned members of the thoughtful left.

These guys have to be programmed, drunk, kidding or all of those. They all used the same words calling freedom works Nazi or Fascist.
Some guy even said his name is Mark Brenard from Phoenix, AZ 602-705-9226.
Yeah, right. Someone smart enough to “understand” the value of govt health care is dumb enough to leave their real name.
They crack me up.

Why not make commercials out of these calls?
I’ve dealt with people like this. They are true believers in socialism. They don’t even realize they are using obscenities and inflammatory language. They really believe what they are saying.
These idiots don’t even know what the heck a brownshirt was/is.

I recently received two letters from a Democrat Senator and a Republican Representative on the Cap and Trade bill. Except for the names, the letters were IDENTICAL.
Mike Castle and Tom Carper (both F-DE)- apparently Joe Biden is not the only Delawarean caught plagarizing.
I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that whenever the left gets involved in some cause, things turn violent:
- Obama’s sponsor Bill Ayers and his terrorist friends planting bombs.
- The PETA nuts attacking people wearing politically incorrect clothing.
- Conservative speakers on campuses being physically assaulted.
- Left-wing operatives invading local GOP headquarters during election campaigns and assaulting volunteers – and later slashing tires on cars.
- Overt voter intimidation at the polls in Philadelphia last year – now with the blessing of the Obama administration.
- An endless list of union thugs dispatched by the Democrats to brutalize people and destroy property.
This has all happened before, but now there’s one big difference: As far as I can tell, this is the first time a national campaign of street violence for politcal purposes has been advocated directly and openly from the White House.
We’re turning into Venezuela, where the dictator calls out goon squads to handle anyone who dares to dissent.
Are we just going to sit here and take it?
Nope! I’ll bet by the end of August there will be bloodshed. One of these stinking union thugs will catch a bullet and all hell will break loose. Of course this will be just dandy with the scum-bag democrats since it will offer them a ‘crisis’ worth exploiting.
