To quote from his bio, his “political philosophy is based on constitutional conservatism and liberty.” We’ll see.

Wow, Armenian and USD Law grad (3rd in his class, no less)...what a great combo!

My dad used to love watching his team. I used to watch with him.

From his website:

Danny Tarkanian’s political philosophy is based on constitutional conservatism and liberty. He believes in limited government and opposes the government takeover of private sector industries. He believes in a smaller government that – with some occasional help – leaves the average person free to achieve his or her ambitions.

Is this really the best candidate we can get against Reid?

Yeah, pretty much. Sharron Angle is running - she's a good conservative lady that used to have a seat on the State Assembly, but her last run against longtime incumbent republican assemblyman Bill Raggio can best be described as bizarre. Her reputation is really in the dirt and her ability to run a coherent campaign is in question.

Jim Gibbons, the current governor, might be a contender if both the dems and republicans didn't hate his equally. His previous PR guy, Ben Kieckheffer, is running for State Assembly and is a guy to watch down the road, but he's a little green to be running against Reid (although I had heard through the grapevine that he was considering it). There's another young cocky guy named Ty Cobb that may be considering a run, although I haven't heard anything lately.

And then there are some outliers like Bill Manders, a blowhard conservative radio DJ in Reno. His ego precedes his ability so let's hope he runs and gets his @ss handed to him in the prelims.

So the short answer is 'yes', Tark may be the best candidate.

I agree with your analysis. I’m just wondering why Sharron Angle isn’t getting any traction? She is FULLY conservative and champions the conservative cause, even as a private citizen. I know that with the proper support, she could trounce Dingy Harry. And she’s someone the people of NV could count on to represent them solidly in the Senate. Just wondering.

I hadn’t heard about Sharron Angle running. When did she announce?

Be nice to Bill :) Blowhard yes but his heart is in the right place. After all, he did auction off the portrait of Reid painted on horse manure.

...his issue back then, when he was running for secretary of state, was voter ID cards - trying to eliminate the voter fraud that the Dems depend upon. It was a good issue, but neither that nor the Tarkanian name was able to win the day. He was underfunded and very green at the time...his messaging skills were average at best, but hopefully he’s improved.

We’d have a better chance if it was NJ instead of NV.

At any rate, the SEIU will deliver for Reid. But hopefully there have been enough lay-offs in Vegas that service/resort workers have left the state. Obama’s commentary about big business execs spending too much on lavish trips to Vegas really pissed off Steve Wynn and there have been a lot of layoffs there. Hopefully a big pile of them went back to Mexico. Vegas is a big rat/union thug town and can carry the state for rats if they get enough of a turnout to counter the other parts of the state that are mostly conservative.

Sharron announced about 2-3 weeks ago. It got minor press, but we’re family friends and are on her e-mail list.

Sorry, I can’t get behind Bill. Sure he’s conservative, but he has a nasty habit of being wrong A LOT and just turns the caller’s audio off when he wants to have the appearance of being right. Being loud, arrogant and obnoxious and having a bullhorn doesn’t make you smarter.

[Rural folks came away from the meeting with an impression of “What a nice young man.... but why is he running?” it seemed as tho he has no particular issue, passion or belief that was inspiring him to run.]

That is the same problem as with Ensign (beyond the adultry thingy).

I was at a beerfest Friday, it looks like Sue Lowden is the chosen one.

I have a ton of dirt on Reid if anyone is interested in helping with research.

Sounds very good, but we need to challenge people who are for “smaller government” and asking them exactly HOW they are going to make our current behemoth smaller. If they do not answer “cut numerous government programs,” they still do not have a clue. It is not good enough any more to just sit there and vote on bills forced onto Congress by their leaders. We need a bunch of people who will act like “Chainsaw Al,” who used to be hired by corporation to come in and fire people so that companies could remain viable.

Note to Danny T: Do you have the guts to cut? Or are you just talking trash?

Oh, by the way, start to PUSH BACK! http://pushbackuntil.com

If this guy turns out to be the real deal, it would behoove each of us to pitch in a few bucks for his campaign. Getting rid of Reid would be priceless!!!!!

"“What a nice young man.... but why is he running?” "

Danny is well on his way to not becoming president of the United States.

I supported Angle in her 2006 run against Heller, and was terribly disappointed that she didn’t win. Losing a primary by no means disqualifies one from runs for higher offices, but her lawsuit calling for a new election rubbed a lot of people the wrong way, and I think that she’d be better off with a win under her belt in a U.S. House (or at least state senate) race before taking on an incumbent U.S. Senator.
