Tran on national GOP radar in his bid to unseat Sanchez

July 29th, 2009 Washington Bureau Chief

Van Tran is officially “On the Radar,’’ of the National Republican Congressional Committee in his bid to unseat Rep. Loretta Sanchez next year.

The state Assemblyman – who was recruited by the NRCC to challenge the 12-year incumbent Democrat - is one of 13 GOP contenders who the campaign committee said today has reached the On the Radar level of their Young Guns recruiting program.

Tran, who had $250,000 in his campaign account as of June 30, has reached the first of three milestones in this Young Guns program. (Sanchez, by the way, had just over $700,000 in the bank as of June 30)

Each one requires candidates to raise a certain amount of money, build their campaign team, enlist volunteers and show they have a robust new media program, including a web site, Face Book page, etc.

“We think he is a candidate that could defeat Loretta Sanchez,’’ said Joanna Burgos, the NRCC’s western press secretary. The NRCC seems to have a much more active recruiting campaign than in previous election cycles.

The next level for Tran is Contender and then Young Gun. Now even if he reached Young Gun it doesn’t guarantee the NRCC will officially target the Sanchez race and give him money.

But it certainly would put him in a position to get some national contributions. If he doesn’t meet the Young Gun goals, it’s doubtful the NRCC would kick in the big bucks.

That’s two districts from my district. I will lend Tran my support to unseat that detestable cheat and possibly “wise latina” Loretta Sanchez

I don't know much about him but I'd sure like to know more and get that wench Sanchez out of that seat which she stole originally with votes of illegals.

That would be so sweet to unseat her. Found one candidate I am donating! Thanks for the update.

I do wish that should could be unseated. I can’t talk about why I can’t stand the woman but I can say that she should never be called a lady.

Sanchez is a mental lightweight and can be knocked off.

She’s the one that changes her name to suit whichever situation she is in. Doesn’t she have a sister in office too?

I think liar fits her profile.

I don’t know. I only know she one very narrowly initially and there was clear evidence that noncitizens voted.

“In 1996, Loretta Sanchez won her congressional race in California against incumbent Bob Dornan by only 979 votes. An investigation found that more than 600 noncitizens voted, not quite enough to overturn the election. But that number of votes was more than the margin of victory in the 2000 presidential race in Florida, a state where the Department of Justice has convicted noncitizens for registering and voting.”

Hmmm. No mention of Conservative core beliefs, or positions and policies?

Facebook, money, and connections. What am I missing here?

“Is he a Rino? No more Rinos.”

The Vietnamese tend to be very conservative Republicans. Remember they are here because their country, South Vietnam, was overrun by Commies. He’s not a Rino.

He’s not a Rino.

Yes he is a rino. If you do not pass 5-10 litmus test issues then you are a rino and almost no one passes them all.

litmus test issues are 1. You must support Palin to be nominee in 2012 2. you must be anti abortion 3. you must be anti gun control 4. you must be anti immigration (legal and illegal) 5, you must be anti free trade 6. you must be anti china 7. you must not be bi partisan in any way 8. you must want to kick romney, guiliani and schwarzennegger out of the party 9. you must be anti affirmative action 10. you must be anti gay marriage 11. you must be anti "country club republicans" 12. you must be christian 13. you must be anti evolution 14. you must be unapologetic for ANYTHING the US may have done in the past.

There are probably 10 or so more issues that I can't think of right now.

I’d like to know how Sanchez became a member of the Blue Dog coalition. Has she ever voted to control spending?

As you wrote to get the ire of us up, “Yes he is a rino. If you do not pass 5-10 litmus test issues then you are a rino and almost no one passes them all.”
Did these 10 tests you came up with come out of a bottle, from the smoke of pakalolo, from the sniffing of some substance or other mind altering goodies?
Then in wisdom you wrote, “There are probably 10 or so more issues that I can’t think of right now.”
Well, maybe tomorrow morning when the fog clears, you can enlighten us all. I am sure we just can’t wait to see what you will come up with.
