Universal health care advocates held a press conference today to highlight certain aspects of a report released by the New York state Departments of Health and Insurance on July 17, which studied four possible reforms to the state’s health insurance system.

The groups, Hunger Action Network of New York state and Single Payer New York, honed in on the single payer option of the report. Mark Dunlea, executive director of Hunger Action Network, touted the cost effectiveness of the single payer option.

“Our bottom line [regarding health care] is cover everybody, cut costs, finance it fairly and treat health care as a human right,” said Dunlea.

The advocates stressed the long-term savings, which they estimate at $20 billion annually by 2019, and pointed out the additional funds necessary for implementation would only be $2.4 billion during the first year.

Dunlea voiced his displeasure with the timing of the report’s publication, on a Friday afternoon when he implied it was buried by other stories.

On the whole, though, Dunlea spoke highly of the report, concluding the single payer option deserved further debate and hopefully implementation.

They are determined to kill off what little benefit there is left to living in NY... and then some.

In my travels of Upstate New York, it is so depressed in many areas it’s like Detroit with a nicer view.

Depends on your definition of “upstate”.. and no, it’s not the NYC definition.

Upstate, real upstate...lol. Watertown area, Herkimer, Utica, up the Northway. So many beautiful old mill towns where much business has left but the people that stayed are being taxed to death.

"The groups, Hunger Action Network of New York state and Single Payer New York, honed in on the single payer option of the report. Mark Dunlea, executive director of Hunger Action Network, touted the cost effectiveness of the single payer option."

While completely ignoring the result such a move would have, such as the MILLIONS of jobs lost in the private insurance indusrty, the HUNDREDS of closures of insurance companies, the TENS OF TRILLIONS of dollars lost to the economy from the loss of all those jobs and insurance companies, plus the trickle down effect to paper companies, office equipment suppliers, computer manufacurers, and on and on we can do.

A single payer system would DEVASTE what's left of our already sinking economy, and not only that, it would completely destroy our health care system so that NOBODY AT ALL will have health care.

This is the most careless, stupid, retarded thing Obama and his band of retarded Democrats are attempting to do. They are literally destroying the entire nation and turning it into a turd world hell hole where people kill each other over a rat for dinner.
