Back from my little vacation and I see lots of new info pertaining to the Gates incident. The latest and greatest being Dan Riehl and Joseph Culligan of Web of Deception digging into the charity Gates started and runs. Apparently the guy has taken in over 200 grand in donations and has banked the majority of it. The money he has given out has been to his buddies at Harvard. The Boston Globe wrote this about the charity:
Public records indicate that the charity, domiciled in Gates's Cambridge home, has been dormant since its inception. Jill Butterworth, a spokeswoman for the state Attorney General's Office, says Inkwell has never filed the required, annual form PC, for public charities. "They are currently not in compliance," Butterworth said. "It's possible they are inactive or have dissolved. We are checking into it." Gates declined to comment.
Kinda sad for a charity started (PDF) to "promote programs that educate the general public and encourage academic interest regarding African and African-American literature, art, history, and culture" eh?
Dan ponders whether this is the reason for Gates acting liking an ass to the arresting officer and refusing entry into the house. I doubt it myself....it appears to be as Patterico says in this post. Reverse racism:

It appears this renowned scholar, whom no one has heard of and whom his neighbor did not recognize, has much in common with William Jefferson (D-LA)...only he probably doesn’t keep his fraudulently-gained money in his freezer. Just another one of BO’s crooked friends.
I’ve been saying this over and over and over:
Most libs are jumping the gun solely based on the fact that the cop was white. They assume that simply because he is white he was harrassing Gates.
Then they turn around and lecture us on the evils of forming judgements about people based on race without ever considering the irony....

No such thing as “reverse” racism. Racism is racism.
We know that liberal fascists claim they are incapable of racism, which is itself a racist statement.
I take issue with the phrase "reverse racism." It implies that "racism" is somehow associated with one particular race being on the giving or receiving end. That when the roles are reversed, racism is "reversed." I don't think so. To me, racism is racism. When you treat someone differently based on their race, that is racism. Even if it is preferential treatment, it is still just as ugly, it is still racism. When you make assumptions about someone based on race (as obama did in the case of the Cambridge police officer), that is racism.
Gates is at best a race-baiter, almost certainly a racist himself. President obama has shown through his comments on the Gates incident, which reveal his prejudices, that he is also racist.
If a good, arrogant, overbearing, self-righteous black leftist can’t steal money through a scam operation at Harvard, where can he? Clearly no one is permitted to question him or his “charity” lest they be immediately accused of racism! The college would back the thug professor to the hilt, lest it be accused of racism. It’s a poor man’s, Jesse Jackson extortion racket!

Pretty nice deal. It’s a non-profit organization, and therefore pays no property taxes. And I assume they also do all the maintenance.

In 2005, Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr., known to all as “Skip,” set up the nonprofit Inkwell Foundation, named after a famous beach/gathering place for African-Americans on Martha’s Vineyard. Skip talked about the foundation in a recent interview with Martha’s Vineyard magazine and touted it when he launched his for-profit business, AfricanDNA.com, last year. “The precedent-setting site is the only company in the field of genetic genealogy that will provide African Americans with family tree research in addition to DNA testing,” its initial press release declared, adding that “a percentage of all profits will be donated to the Inkwell Foundation, dedicated to reforming the teaching of science and history in inner city schools using genetic and genealogical ancestry tracing.”
