President Obama’s Czar Power

The "chosen" Czars: Our beloved community organizer is taking our country toward socialism and he is enlisting Pit Bulls to assist!

Is anyone alarmed by the number of Czars appointed by President Obama–-over 30 (and counting) in just six months in office? In fact, you can find a "tweet" on John McCain’s twitter page, “Obama has more czars than the Romanovs - who ruled Russia for three centuries.”

Apparently, in the United States, the title “Czar” is an informal term of a certain high-level official who directs and oversees federal operations on a given topic. Czars have been around for a while and President Nixon was the first to appoint an Energy Czar during the 1970 energy crises. Other Presidents have appointed their share of Czars; President Reagan (1), President George H. W. Bush (1), President Clinton (3), and President George W. Bush (4). So why is President Obama adding so many so fast? Are these good intentions to handle issues of the day or just another layer of government that is accountable to no one but the White House?

Czars are appointed at the discretion of the president (even though there is no provision for it in the constitution), they are not vetted, and there is no background check. The “chosen” not only hold unelected positions, but they rule with absolute authority and no accountability. Their job descriptions are nebulous, yet their salary is a mystery, and they all require a staff. As reported by Neil Cavuto of Fox News, the Czars “oversee more than $1.7 trillion of taxpayers’ money and they don’t have to justify how much money they’re spending and even how they are spending it.” There is no transparency, no congressional oversight, and they only answer to the president.

My sister had a dog named Czar...

Where is he finding the money to pay them? The CZAR gets $182,000 a year plus is given ten employees. How did the President find all that extra money to pay these people?

"Apparently?" The term was created by the liberal media, when Nixon appointed the first one.

You and me....I guess we have no say in that. I’m sure it was in the “payoff/stimulus” package that no one read!

These offices were never specifically authorized by an Act of Congress. These are discretionary funds, taken from the department or function with which these czars have oversight.

FDR had a similar command structure back in the early days of the “National Recovery Administration”. They were given the title of “Dictator”, which apparently had a different connottion then.

Benito Mussolini was regarded as the epitome of “efficient” government operation, and FDR’s New Deal was an attempt to implement that manner of administration on the chaotic and disparate American people.

The trains ran “mostly” on time in the US.

I wrote at lunch to my Congressman, Chris Lee (R-NY)and already have a response.

I’m a little surprised - they ARE trying to do something:

Thank you for contacting me in regards to the Czar Accountability and Reform Act. I appreciate you taking the time to share your views.

As you may know, this bill would require the consent of the United States Senate to use appropriated funds to pay the salaries or expenses of any task force or council that has been established at the direction of the President. It would eliminate funding for administration “czars” who hold senior policy-making positions unless the Senate can exercise its constitutional role of advice and consent.

This issue is currently before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. While I do not serve on this panel, I will be sure to keep your views in mind should it come before the full House of Representatives.

Thanks for that information. I wondered what was happening when ZERO hired these CZARS for $182,000 and gave them ten employees a piece but they were not subject to Senate confirmation.

This is great news. Impressed you heard back so fast. He is one Congressman that needs reelected.

He’s brand-new. His office staff are very respectful of his constituents. I was blown away at the response time!

I wish I could say the same as Schumer’s staff - you can tell in their voice that they want you to hurry up and get off the phone.
