ABORTION IS NOT HEALTH CARE

On July 15, 2009, H. R. 3200 passed a Senate Committee and is being rushed through the U.S. House and Senate to install a nationalized health plan. This bill would repeal the ban on using federal funds for abortion and would instead require abortion to be part of any national health plan.

This bill would:

Require all insurance plans to include abortion with no exceptions
Mandate health networks establish new abortion providers in order to provide local access to abortion throughout the United States.
Invalidate many state laws which protect women and unborn babies as they relate to abortion (parental notice, 24-hour waiting periods, etc)

It is IMPORTANT that you call your Congressman and Senators to tell them that abortion is not health care.

Ask them to vote NO on any health plan that does not specifically exclude abortion from being covered as “health care”.

Salem, OR July 20, 2009 - st1\:*{behavior:url(#ieooui) } Health care bill H.R. 3200 is being rushed through the U.S. House and Senate. The bill would install a nationalized health plan.

Beyond establishing a nationalized health plan, H.R. 3200 would replace the long-standing ban on using federal taxpayer funds for abortion.

In addition, H.R. 3200 includes:

-the requirement that all insurance plans cover abortion – no exceptions

-a mandate that health care networks establish new abortion providers and expand local access to abortion

-language similar to the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) invaliding many state laws which protect women and unborn babies (parental notice laws, waiting periods, etc.)

It is very important that you call your Congressman, give them your name and address, and politely tell the staff person that you oppose H.R. 3200 or any plan that requires abortion to be considered basic healthcare. Abortion is not health care. In addition, American tax dollars should not be used to pay for abortions. Ask the staff person to urge the Congressman to also oppose H.R. 3200.
