Is it bad out there, or is recovery right around the corner? Harley will basically manufacture nothing in Q42009.

Amazing.
Less than a month ago, journalists were crawling over eachother to write articles on how HD “bucked the trend” of layoffs and market constriction.
I wonder if Cramer rated HD as a “best buy” (j/k, I think they’re still privately owned).

Almost 90% guaranteed formula I now know...if a company reports horrible earnings and plans massive cuts and looks like it will eventually face bankruptcy, the stock will go sharply up. The MMs will squeeze out everyone who shorted taking all of their money and then the idiots who buy in thinking things are recovering will lose everything they have as it bottoms out.

Will the last manufacturing job in Wisconsin please turn out the lights when he leaves. Thank you.

I've heard they want to close their York, PA plant altogether. One reason that they started production down in Brazil was to inch out of high US labor costs, but I think customer outrage put a stop to that.
There aren't that many boomers around who haven't already bought a hog that wanted one. I predict lower sales until another Easy Rider captures a new generation...

Harley will basically manufacture nothing in Q42009.
A big chunk of Harley Davidson's demographic is well paid manufacturing workers. America decided that it's better to make things in the third world using extremely low paid labor. Therefore, those American workers aren't buying Harleys anymore. Or much else non-essential, for that matter.
The outsourcing model has failed.

Wonder how this will square with Gov Doyle and his henchmen in the Wisconsin legislature for their plans to tax anything and everything?
To: 10Ring
Ooooh. I know why the stock shot up today. This horrible news makes Harley-Davidson eligible for billions in stimulus funds.

So is Plugs Biden planning a trip out to Wisconsin, to extol the benefits of the Obama Economic Plan?
Maybe Eric Cantor should make a quick trip NW from VA while Biden's making a fool out of himself in Eric's district.
