Speaking of repeatedly....

Anyway, when I lived in New York State, convicted felons could not vote for the rest of their lives, much less from prison. Things change, I doubt that the Democrats could ignore such a lucrative lode of voters.

That may no longer be true. NY and NJ usually mirror each other with their laws. And in 2008 there was a restore your vote campaign run by the State of NJ.
