the reason is here..from the article: "It also followed a meeting of the Illinois Republican congressional delegation on Thursday in which his colleagues refused to back Kirk in a primary against Illinois Republican Party Chairman Andy McKenna due, in large part, to his vote in favor of President Barack Obamas climate change bill." would have been tough to win the primary after GW vote..

Oh heck, Kirk (my former congressman) is struggling to hang on to his congressional seat.
I didn’t know any Republican in my district who voted for him other than he was a “Republican” vote in Congress. But he’s lost that too.
And, I don’t think it can get past anything the Daley machine and Obama set up.
