Sure there are churches, but they don't always hear of needy situations. Often churches don't even hear of the needs within their own congregations.
Not to be critical and I know you didn't mean it that way, but that sounds like Scrooge:
'Are there no prisons?"
'Plenty of prisons,' said the gentleman, laying down the pen again.
'And the Union workhouses.' demanded Scrooge. 'Are they still in operation?'
'Both very busy, sir.'
'Oh. I was afraid, from what you said at first, that something had occurred to stop them in their useful course,' said Scrooge. 'I'm very glad to hear it.'
Always loved that Dickensian wisdom. It tells us that doing good is not to be left to the other fellow. Every one of us has to practice it, as if the Lord doesn’t want to waste a single soul. Nobody was put here to leave His work to “someone else.”
