GOP Choice: Expediency or Principle

Republicans have a choice. Are we going to be the party of political expediency or are we going to be the party driven by principle?

Many have argued that if Republicans pacify the Democrats and their liberal ways, Independents will naturally flow to the Republican side of the aisle. This was in part the John McCain strategy. It failed because it demonstrated that the party was rudderless on principle and had nothing unique to offer voters.

Sen. McCain’s effort to join Barack Obama in supporting the $700 billion bailout further demonstrated to America and the Republican base that there was little difference between the presidential nominees. The nation was opposed and nobody stood up for them.

The Republican Party should be the party of principle, not of political expediency. We should stand tall for our core principles of fiscal discipline, limited government, accountability, and a strong national defense. Over the years we have strayed from these principles and the consequences have been devastating, both to the economy and to the party

This clip on Youtube got me to research this guy, he seems like a raising star, and I hope stays with his conservative beliefs could Mr. Chaffetz be the Statesman we have been waiting for..
