There was a one-sided vote in both the Tennessee house and senate that removed Planned Parenthood’s decades long stranglehold on family planning funds in the Volunteer State.
Susan Allen of Tennessee Right to Life is thankful that Planned Parenthood will no longer receive the annual automatic nod from the state.  She commented that, "For approximately 40 years, Planned Parenthood was given preferential treatment in the Tennessee state law for getting family planning funds that are under Title X from the federal government."
About $1.1 million that has been set aside for family planning in Tennessee, will now be distributed mostly to local health organizations and not the taxpayer-supported abortion provider, Planned Parenthood.
I remember covering the story earlier this year when Lila Rose of the “Live Action” news program conducted an undercover video investigation at Memphis’ Planned Parenthood.  She posed as a 14-year-old girl who had been gotten pregnant by an older man. Here is a link to the actual video that was taken that exposed their true colors and probably was largely responsible for the stir that followed. >  http://liveaction.org/
A Planned Parenthood staff member advised her how to obtain the abortion without identifying the molester. If Planned Parenthood had it there way the little girl would have an abortion without notification of her parents and the child molester would get away scot-free. It is apparent that Lila Rose's revelation had a profound effect on the Tennessee lawmakers.
Susan Allen also commented that, “It really brought the public into an awareness of what goes on at Planned Parenthood."
In California, investigations similar to these also helped Orange County Commissioners to stop funding Planned Parenthood.
Since I am a pharmacist, I was also glad to see the following story by Leslie Tignor on the All American Life League news page:
"Senate (La) okays bill to allow refusal of health care"
" BATON ROUGE, La. -- The Louisiana Senate agreed Monday to a proposal that would shield doctors and pharmacists from penalties for refusing to provide health care because of religious or moral objections. The bill would protect health providers from civil or criminal penalties, job loss or demotion because they refuse to provide certain services based on religious or moral beliefs. Those procedures include abortion, certain types of emergency contraception, human embryonic stem cell research, human embryo cloning, euthanasia or physician-assisted suicide."
Here is a link to an article from the Mayo Clinic that describes how the morning after pill works.

Let’s hope the health organizations don’t pass the money on to PP.

Ping!

I'm wondering if this is the cause of the fed fund being withdrawn??

I just hope this is not another bait & switch. Planned Parenthood has used slight of hand in the past to get around anti-abortion attempts. PP will say they use taxpayer funds for health care and not abortions. Then they can use the their health care efforts to get donations, which fund their abortions along with other tax exempt programs.

PP cannot be allowed to exist, IMHO, and my opinion has nothing to do with abortions.
