Alinsky Perfected Pt I: Players in the Palin attack machine make Alaska taxpayers fund their agenda

Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.

If you push a negative hard and deep enough it will break through into its counterside; this is based on the principle that every positive has its negative.

Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.

from Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals

Alinsky was an expert at teaching “have nots” how to take power away from the “haves”. But even Saul himself would have to admire how the anti-Palin attack machine is not only waging a relentless legal (and media) campaign war on a soon to be former Governor for a political agenda, but they are getting the Alaskan denizens to foot the bill.

Now how perfect is that? You get the rabid Sarah haters to swamp the system with ethics complaints, then alert the media that swarms like flies to a turd on anything Sarah. That, of course, is the same media that studiously ignores William Jefferson using his freezer as a bank for his ill gotten cash, and Murtha’s shady connections with a plethora of firms under investigation.

And it doesn’t cost the liberal attack machine a thin dime…. instead it’s all courtesy of the Alaskan residents.

Yes… Saul and those that sat at the feet of Alinsky (ahem… the big Zero)… must be smug with pride, congratulating themselves at how well their low budget operation [for them] appears to be working.

Well, news flash: don’t celebrate too soon. Those bent on destroying Sarah may think they won the war and are busy printing up their “mission accomplished” banners while screaming “quitter!” at the top of their lungs. But they may find citizen Sarah a bigger handful than they bargained for. She’s not only on record now as alleviating future monetary attacks on Alaskans by the attack machine, but she is now able to engage the nation while honing federal and int’l issues from the lower 48, and free from the Gubernatorial restraints for expense disclosure.

And just wait until a Sarah Palin book comes out… can anyone say “best seller”?

What’s been the head scratcher all this time is this… why haven’t the Alaskans hadn’t spoken out on this highway robbery at their expense for a political smear campaign? There have been articles in the local Alaskan papers, documenting dismissal after dismissal. And while they’ve pointed out how asinine some of this stuff is, no one ever brought up the price tag for this activist BS.

There have even been some pundits who’ve suggested this seems to be a campaign to bankrupt the Palins, noting her personal expenses for legal defense have passed the half mil mark. In fact, it’s become so outrageous that even Palin critics are questioning the validity of this onslaught of complaints, and Palin supporters set up a campaign to donate to a Palin legal defense fund in mid June that, within a week, and racked up $109K.

The backlash brewing for these people is something they will never see coming, and would never expect.

You see this same type of thing whenever somebody tries to build a nuclear power plant. One commie lib actually tried to get the NRC to force nuclear operators to make radiation have a smell like the gas that might run your stove.

The extreme attacks and smearing of Private Citizen Sarah Palin are going to be received much differently than the attacks and smearing of Governor Sarah Palin.

I believe the first target for counter-attack and it’s a big, old, fat, mud ugly one, would be the self-proclaimed Celtic Diva, Linda Kellen Biegel. She’s obviously suffered a life of being stood up, put down and never taken out in broad daylight.
She’ll probably claim “glandular problems” for her weight but there’s no glandular cause for ugly. She might be able to lose weight but she ain’t able to lose ugly. The Elephant Man averts his gaze from that serious form of ugly.

The media calls lies “reported” and repeated, as well as hateful blog entries as “coverage.” Palin needs to discount all the media and blogs as illegitimate sources....calling into question their veracity (and the credentials of each writer/reporter) at every turn.

Agree! And then of course ...Barry’s personal favorite quotes of his mentor.

By the skillful and sustained use of propaganda, one can make a people see even heaven as hell or an extremely wretched life as paradise.

Demoralize the enemy from within by surprise, terror, sabotage, assassination. This is the war of the future.

Actually, I think she first needs to aggressively go after the State Run Media organizations who are reporting on these “bloggers” and using them as sources. I don’t believe that reporting “gossip” as legitimate news and saying “we didn’t start it” is a plausible legal defense. If the main news organizations are hit hard for this type of “reporting”, their blogger sources will dry up.

The threshold for liable and slander are much lower for a private citizen than they are for a public figure.

She’ll still be a public figure

But she can earn and raise more cash from those of us who support her and fight back at the pack of wolves masquerading as journalists

I hope she’s got some great, committed lawyers

SARAH’S HIGHER CALLING:

Sarah Palin would do more for the nation, in my opinion – by taking over the RNC and kick Steele to the curb. She could get much more done for this nation as opposed to running for office - that could come later...

This would:

* Bring conservative principles back to the RNC (small government, get government out of our lives, lower taxes, 2nd amendment support, state's rights, small business support, lower taxes, strong defense, non-nonsense foreign policies). Conservatism works every time it is tried.

* She could be a credible spokesperson for energy, drilling, etc in light of sane environmental initiatives.

* She could, on a daily basis, take the wind out of Barry's sails on a host of his anti-American issues (bank take-overs, nationalization of large sectors of the economy, socialism, class warfare, generational theft, bigger government, job killing). Her media appeal would take away from the daily barrage of "new plans" put out ad nauseum by Barry, Rahm, Steffy, and 'Astro-Turf' Axelrod. She would be a countervailing force to the crap we get from the White Crib on a nearly hourly basis. If Republicans embraced the Twitter, Facebook, MySpace internet viral communications, it would be a direct hit against Barry's minions.

* She could - and this is the biggest reason she should take over the RNC - help with a 1994-esque take-over of both houses and start blocking the hopey-dopey-changey-strangey crap we have seen for the last 6 months.

If she remains a private citizen then she may have some legal recourse against the attacks but if she remains in politics she will be a public figure and the attacks will continue without any legal recourse. I really hope it was not the attacks that drove her from office. If so it will be impossible for her to win elective office in my view.

Exactly. That woman needs a big bullseye painted on her.

I would love to see her replace Steele. She owes NO ONE in Washington D C any favors. (That is almost unheard of these days in politics) She wasn’t afraid to call out Obama during the campaign...unlike McCain. She is tough as nails and doesn’t mind stepping on anyone’s toes to get the truth out.

Here’s the thing - Palin scored an own goal by championing the ethics bill, not realizing it could be used against her. She’s clearly an inspiring figure for many, and to the extent that she is a rallying point for the conservative base, I support her. My personal impression of some of her positions on the issues is that they are a lot like her support of the ethics bill - ill-thought out with respect to the consequences, and not very conservative. On economic issues, it’s her persona that’s conservative rather than her positions.
