She has said in the past that she wanted be be more influential and play a bigger role in the Rep. Party. You can't do that by staying isolated in Alaska. This will allow her to set up base in the lower 48 somewhere.

Both political parties in Washington have no use for Sarah Palin. They don’t want someone who will really stand up for the common hard-working decent American citizen. All DC national leaders of both parties just want to rape us. Palin had to be destroyed; I think she’s been given the message loud and clear from the GOP that in national politics “you’re on you’re own.”
