Doesn't the title of this story from CNNMoney.Com make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside? "White House Staff Safe From Obama Tax Hike." I bet you were biting your fingernails in worry about whether White House staffers would be hit with the higher taxes that President Obama promised would only happen to those making over $250,000 per year. Here is the "reassurance" from CNNMoney that the White House staffers won't be burdened by higher taxes due to Obama's sacred pledge:

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Barack Obama's White House staff appears to be safe from a tax increase, for now.

The White House on Wednesday issued its annual report to Congress listing the salaries of all staff, revealing that everyone gets paid less than $200,000.

During the election campaign, Obama promised no income tax increase for anyone making under $250,000.

Actually, during the waning months of the campaign, didn’t that figure get lowered to “only those making more than $200,000 a year will get a tax hike” and later, “only those making more than $150,000”?

Who the heck knows really, after all these are Democrats. Nailing them down on anything is like nailing jello to the wall.

The actual number will be somewhere between. Say, like, $171,999.99?

I think White House staffers deserve a special tax cut not available to average citizens considering the great national service they are providing to us peasants.

Until the open their utility bills, buy gasoline, or food. Oh, wait a minute, those increases aren't really taxes.

Will their health benefits be taxed? How about their other perks?

Why not tax the rich on their junket travel! Start with CONGESS.

THANK YOU for your excellent post.

I don't know why Americans are being more vocal about ALL this obnoxious spending by Congress.

BTW, what is their health care plan looking like?

We elected these Bozos to office and then they turn around and screw us!

And many of them have spouses making bigger bucks than them with some lobbying firm or politically connected foundation. Family income is way beyond $250k for most of these parasites, even the one’s who aren’t trust fund kids.

They, and all other members of the Government Elite, get so many untaxed special privileges that they don’t have a thing to worry about.
Tax increases are for the ordinary working slobs.

in the Middle Ages, were not the nobility exempted from taxes and only the peasants had to pay?

The thing is he is lying there also. Everyone in the US will be hit with higher taxes if his cap and tax the snot out of citizens bill passes, and add more taxes if his Nationalized health care goes through.
