While NSF accounts for about 20% of research funding, it is THE major source for science and engineering funding that is readily available to run-of-the-mill professors. I have several friends at NSF and know many reviewers personally. They will tell you that the quickest way to end up on the rejected proposal pile is to challenge AGW or propose work that could be used to do so.

Socialism is a religion to many of its adherents. And it is exceptionally difficult, if not impossible, to alter one’s religious beliefs. Socialists are being recruited daily in our public schools and on the vast majority of our college campuses.
