WASHINGTON Days from his first Moscow summit, President Barack Obama declared Thursday that former Russian President Vladimir Putin "still has a lot of sway" in his nation and needs an in-person reminder the Cold War is over.
On next week's trip, Obama will meet not only with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev but with Putin, the prime minister who hand-picked Medvedev as his successor. Said Obama: "I think that it's important that even as we move forward with President Medvedev that Putin understand that the old Cold War approaches to U.S.-Russian relations is outdated. ... Putin has one foot in the old ways of doing business and one foot in the new."

Well, Tim Kaine thinks Putin heeded the words of Obama and pulled back on Georgia.
Don't know where to start; except maybe start digging a bomb shelter.
oy, that’s what I get for copying the byline with HTML-sensitive copy
lulz....
Putin to Barry: STFU you socialist wannabe!
What a naive idiot.
Putin to tell Obama: Fold these shirts.
Putin will and can run circles around Obama
Putin will and can run circles around Obama
Another APOLOGY ?
What.
A.
Frikking.
Moron.
And he’s our CIC.
This guy is a broken record.....
.....He might as well have said....
"Stop CLINGING to the Cold War"
This arrogant attitude reminds me of how he consistently dismissed everybody who was over 50 during his campaign. Said their time was over and they had a backwards way of looking at things; that they were still reliving the past, especially the 1960’s.
So it doesn’t surprise me at all that he’s now saying the same thing about Putin.
Obama loves to think of himself as forward-thinking; hip and new and quick to adapt. He still sickens me.
Putin: “Hey Obama, time to move past the New Deal.”
Barry is dangerously arrogant. If this sort of lame pep-talk worked, Putin would have been swayed long ago.
LOL! Obama is a joke. He is even worse than his fellow traveller Carter. Putin knows he is a joke. Hey Vlad cut us a break - we know the KGB or their successor has the Kenyan BC. Get it out there. Pravda sounds 10x more factual than the NY Slimes.
I don’t see how President Obama has much moral ground to tell Putin to get over the Cold War. A significant segment of his own political party wants cash for something that ended 144 years ago.
Well I don't know... can you imagine being mocked and looked down upon by The One?
Oh yeah, I'm an American citizen. He does that to me every day and I'm fine. Too bad the country isn't.
Your second point on Pravda is dead on. Reading Pravda is more a path to the truth than any major daily like NYT, LAT,WaPo etc.
Despite the public BS, Obama is going about appeasing Putin in every major area, including scrapping our missile defense program, the bogus and insane “total nuclear disarmament” deal, and the abandonment of Iraq so that Russian ally Iran can eventually seize control of it.
Carter and Clinton must be just howling at the idea they will never again be the focus of folks talking about who the worst President was, let alone _Resident...
Obama to Putin: Move past the cold war. We’re ALL central planners now!
Obama is a master at saying the wrong thing at the wrong time to the wrong people at the wrong place.
Nope... I’m in for Putin all the way. He’s my guy.
Heck, I want Putin to run for president in 2012. Obama has proven that being a citizen is not required. I want a president that’s willing to kill the crooks, Putin will. I just wish Putin was Black, then I know he would win.
Putin - Mighty Mouse 2012
Be afraid, be very afraid.... dude.
Snicker snort. This is going to be fun to watch.
Maybe they’ll have a contest to see who looks better without their shirt.
Outstanding diplomacy Barry! Yup, you smoked tons of pot growing up!
Barry, you and your ilk certainly *are* a reminder that the Cold War is over. Putin is laughing his face off at it, too.
The lightweight gay boy king wannabe is going to take on the Russies. Good luck with that Zero. Maybe they will end up keeping him. I won’t mind.
He’s probably going over there to give them our nuclear secret codes. Anything to be liked you know.
The encounter will be interesting. I can't picture O accomplishing anything except making himself look effeminate. We've already seen both without their shirts, and Putin doesn't shave his chest
I remember what a big deal the msm made about W looking into Putin’s soul. But who is it that was going to put a missile shield in Poland? And who is it that will quash it? Putin will probably have the Russians running NATO by the time this is all over. Think Gorbachev and Reagan but reverse the roles.
Putin should tell Obama, “it’s time to move past the Russian ‘Revolution’”, then call him “Commie Muzzie Bitch”.

And once Obama leaves the room Putin will laugh his @$$ off and call him a sissy.
Don’t worry, Putin will tell Obama that it was Gorbachev ended the Cold War and Obama will agree and apologize that Reagan was such a warmonger.
Yeah? And you got both your dainty feet firmly ensconced in a stinking pile of Joe Biden.
What an embarrassment preachy little Zero is. What I want to know is whether he is bowing to Mecca five times a day.
Somebody should send a video copy of Reagan’s “Mr. Gorbachov, tear down this wall!” moment, along with another video copy of the actual Berlin Wall coming down under Bush 41. Then 0zer0 will see what a real POTUS and Leader of the Free World looks like.
Barrack Hussein Obama = The Neville Chamberlain of our time!
he still stoned 24/7...
if the whole deal wasnt such a dog&pony show, Id love to see ole vlad say 'fetch my vodka...BOY'...
ROTFLMAO I love how you put that.
Won't be necessary. Putin is smart enough to know we are hollowing ourselves out from the inside, all he has to do is wait, and after America crumples he will be able to have his way without firing a shot. Likewise the mooj.
Yep. I imagine he sent some money to “change and hope” with a smirk and a giggle.
Wouldn’t surprise me one bit.
I am sure Putin is shaking in his boots.
Yep, with howling laughter.
What better way of demonstrating that the Cold War is over?
"In spite of the hardness and ruthlessness I thought I saw in his face, I got the impression that here was a man who could be relied upon when he had given his word." 1938 Neville Chamberlin about some guy.
