Don’t call this kid “her.”

If it has (or had) a schlong and/or XY chromosomes, it’s a boy, unless there are genetic issues involved.

hard to tell whether genetic issues are involved from reading the article, but Wikipedia says “Between 0.1% and 0.2% of live births are ambiguous enough to become the subject of specialist medical attention, including surgery to disguise their sexual ambiguity.”

if this child is only in fifth grade and having these kinds of identity issues I’d charitably assume he/she is in that 0.1% category? otherwise this child has very progressive parents.
