“That was so long ago, my great-grandfather fought in that war. That just shows you can’t trust the government when they tell you a tax is temporary,” she said. “How can something be ‘temporary’ for over 100 years?”

Um, wasn’t this already repealed? I know the tax on my phone bill went down a few years ago, and I seem to recall it was because that tax was repealed.

My mother used to rail on them when the subject of the Pennsylvania Turnpike comes up. It was only going to be a toll road for a little while until it’s paid for. / hurl

I am sure cut and run will put enough earmarks in with the repeal that even if passed it will have no net effect.

A lot of people don’t realize that this excise tax can be decuted from your income tax.

Ummmm... seems to me the Spanish-American War "telephone tax" was repealed in July 2006. In fact I remember President Bush talking about it and a thread about it on FR. I looked it up and confirmed this. Seems Ron is a little late on this one... Feds Surrender, Kill 108-Year-Old Telephone Tax

Wow, Ron Paul is a genius and the only true Constitutionalist! Let the herald angels sing!

Oh, wait, let’s see here:

http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=s111-47

Hmmm. Sen. Ensign introduced the bill. As of 4-18-09 it had nine sponsors. Ron Paul wasn’t one. He is now, so of course let’s blare the trumpets.

Yes, he is right, as he often is. But . . . he didn’t introduce it. And wasn’t even in the top ten. Is the “only true Constitutionalist” a leader or a follower?
