(WXYZ) - Action News has learned that Monica Conyers has resigned from Detroit City Council.
She submitted her resignation letter to Wayne County Clerk Janice Winfrey. Her resignation will take effect July 6.
Conyers' staff will be on the payroll until December 31. They will reportedly be available to assist other Council members until then.
Conyers' resignation comes on the heals of a call by Council President Ken Cockrel, Jr. for Conyers to step down. He said she had forfeited her office by pleading guilty to corruption charges on Friday.

She is going to take the heat for a lot of stuff in order to keep hubby out of the X-ring.

Now if you could just get her hubby to do the same???
I won’t be surprised if Obama offered to pardon her just as long as Conyers keeps his mouth shut up about ACORN.
I’m still thinking that John found an easy way to get rid of his wife because she sure didn’t get any help.
Why, couldn’t she serve from the prison cell./ She already admitted to the bribery charges.
Don’t feel sorry for. Corrupt leftists take care of each other. We will hear nothing of her for a while, then some FR member will discover that she has a well-paying job funded by the taxpayers.

I’ll bet she figured out that the $81,000 salary was chump change, now that Tax and Trade is about to pass. Her hubby will ensure that she and other connected, crooked “people of the right color” get a big ol’ chunk of THAT dough.
His career is far more important to both of them than hers, they both knew that if John threw a fit what it would look like to the rest of the country, and then all the damning evidence would have to be released then.
She would rather be a congressman’s wife than him risking that for her vanity, she still gets the perks anyway.
A pipe dream of mine would be if he divorced her over this, now THAT would be cause to buy popcorn stock.
Now prosecute her for her crimes and put her away for a long time. Oh I forgot, her husband will find a way to make all this go away. Crooks need to be judged in a court of law.
Yes, I believe she called another council member "Shrek" and the girl was calling her on her behavior. She tried to excuse it by saying everyone gets mad. That is when the girl said "I am a child and you are an adult" or some such.
Or get an appointment.
Maybe Obortion will decide she has "empathy" for bribers, and appoint her Czar of Political Bribery.
(Too bad that's not nearly as ridiculously unlikely as it sounds on the surface.)
