Six Missing Israeli Soldiers By Norma Zager and Ari Bussel

“The hardest thing to explain is the glaringly evident which everybody had decided not to see…” Ayn Rand

Three years ago a Jewish son was taken from his parents. Hamas terror organization kidnapped Israeli soldier Gilad during an incursion from Gaza into Israel. His captors have denied access to him by Red Cross workers in violation of the Geneva Convention. For three years his parents have suffered with worry for their son. For three years a merciless enemy has held captive a young man, a soldier. While Gilad Shalit became a symbol, there has been little anger or rage from his own people.

It is odd I have heard no outcry from the Jewish population. Or is it? We have certainly heard much blabber bandied about from the liberal Jewish corner about mistreatment of Palestinians. Mistreatment that is, at its very core, the responsibility of people who place their own children in the path of bombs to act as human shields and thus discredit their enemy. Who would sacrifice a child for their own hatred and sick, evil intentions?

Hamas terrorists held in Israeli prisons enjoy TV and phone privileges, regular visitation rights and other conditions better suited to a vacationing tourist. The most elementary human treatment would demand access to Gilad Shalit. To his captors he is not a person, a fellow human being. To them he is just a pawn in a most cruel game against the Jewish State. Yet they have the audacity to demand even better accommodations for their prisoners. Who is stupid in this equation? Clearly, not Hamas.

The Hamas Charter calls for the destruction of the Jewish State. What is one life to Hamas, there are so many others lining up to die for their “cause,” as perverse as it is?

Throughout time wars have been hell. No one has ever ended a war and bragged about what a wonderful experience the event had proven to be. No one enjoys the memories of war, or dwells upon them fondly on a Sunday afternoon while lazing in a hammock drinking lemonade. One of the most known Israeli songs of all times is LU YEHI (“May it Be”), and its byline: “I promise you, my little girl of mine, that this would be the last war.”

War is a hell that haunts its participants like a ghost in the darkness. It is made worse by those who see martyrdom as a means to an end. What kind of insane people would sacrifice their children and send them into harm’s way? What type of crazy people would teach and train their children for the purpose of becoming little Shaids (martyrs)?

Jewish people have a far different attitude. The life of one child is the same as the life of all combined. All right-thinking Jewish people see Gilad Shalit as their sorrow, their problem and their own personal tragedy. At least that is the way it should be, the way it was before, before the insanity began and Jewish people became overwhelmed by a desperate need to validate their compassionate natures by appeasing the enemy.

Of course there are Palestinians who abhor murder, but they have allowed their cries for rational behavior to be drowned out by evil leaders. In fact, their cries have not been heard.

Jewish people seem to be suffering from mass Stockholm syndrome, identifying with our destructors, defending and caring for them in some new twisted and perverse manner.

Who will end the silliness that characterizes the crazies who condemn Israel for defending its children?

During the truce Hamas continuously launched armed rockets into Israel to kill innocent civilians, including Jewish and Arab children. The price did not matter to Hamas. The stronger the hit, the better the results. Hit a hospital in which there are probably more Arabs and Bedouins at any point of time – both medical and general staff and patients and visitors – than Jewish, and you have done something phenomenal. Israelis will undoubtedly find a reason to blame themselves for the damage and horrors inflicted.

No Jewish apologizers even flinched. No one spoke up or made waves, or criticized the enemy. Instead, 27 “human rights” organizations went to demonstrate against the “Israeli atrocities” in Gaza. Eight years of ongoing bombardment were easily justified by these organizations. The enemy is where their sympathies lie.

Is it any wonder when Hamas sees the attitude of these foolish defenders of evil, it laughs and knows exactly how to push their ridiculous buttons?

Hamas’s brethren-in-arms to the north, Hizbollah, negotiated with Israel the release of animals, terrorists who killed Jews for the pure pleasure of doing so. One smashed the skull of a young child against a rock after murdering her father moments earlier. Her only fault: being an Israeli Jew. She did not even know the world for more than four years; she was already at fault. What did Israel get in return? Body parts of two other soldiers kidnapped during an incursion from Lebanon into Israel – Ehud, the son of Malka, Goldwasser and Eldad, the son of Tova, Regev.

Jewish people are so sophisticated these days, one Jewish soldier isn’t so important to them any more. Lip service notwithstanding, the true cost of taking the necessary action was never willingly assumed by the politicians in Israel. It is easy to go on living one’s daily life.

It makes as much sense to me as a rally for Nazi victims in Brooklyn during World War II. Could you imagine the Jewish people carrying signs and screaming, “Save the Nazis, the Jews in the camps are guilty of war crimes against our innocent German brothers?” Yet, some among us have become so warped in their thinking this is not nonsensical. They are so bloated with their desire to be fair-minded and liberal, they have become callous to the screams of their own martyrs.

One Jewish soldier sits and waits for his people to notice he is missing. Youth in a train in Israel look at a poster of Gilad Shalit wondering “is he still in captivity or is he back?” Gilad, a solider of the Israel Defense Forces, was risking his life so that Jewish people everywhere would be free from oppression and harm. He was fighting so never again could Jewish children be pulled from their mother’s breast and thrown into an oven to die in the flames. He was fighting for us, for your children and grandchildren. Yet, instead of fighting for him, and against any common sense, many battle for his enemy.

Is it any wonder there are only 14 million Jews left in the world and soon there will be none? Is it not long past time for someone to care as much about one Jewish life as the millions of lives who are determined to snuff out ours?

Sleep well tonight. I’m certain Gilad Shalit and his parents will not, but after all, why is that your problem? It’s only one life to you and there are so many others who need your sympathy, and you are, after all so filled with justice and compassion for humanity. We pray every day to the Almighty for the release of Gilad, son of Aviva, Shalit; Zecharia Shlomo, son of Miriam, Baomel; Yekutiel Judea Nachman, son of Sarah, Katz; Tsvi, son of Pnina, Feldman; Guy, son of Rina, Hever; Ron, son of Batya, Arad. Six soldiers missing to this very day, their paths unknown. May they come home soon. Six Israeli soldiers, but to the Jewish people, one whole world.

### In the series “Postcards from Israel – Postcards from Home,” Ari Bussel and Norma Zager invite readers throughout the world to join them as they present reports about Israel, homeland of the Jewish People, as seen by two sets of eyes. This “point - counter-point” presentation has, since 2008, become part of our lives. It can be found in numerous websites around the world as well as in print in the USA.

There will be no peace until Hamas and the other terrorists are eradicated from Isreal and surrounding areas.

In my mind I don’t think these two soldiers are alive. It is sickening that other Jews are not demanding his release.

Sickening.

As far as I'm concerned the Israelis could use artillery on the 'pali' areas until not one stone stands upon another.

Frigging animals all of them.

I kinda agree with you. They should demand the release of the soldiers and tell them that for each day they refuse to comply, Israel will take one square mile of territory and it will never be returned. Eventually, they’ll either return the soldiers or have to flee to a neighboring country as their land becomes annexed by Israel.

And do NOT trade the soldiers for Pali terrorists!
