I keep reading this, but it sure is hard to find them in the stores.

I agree. I suspect that our industrial output has been whittled down to a handful of big ticket items like Boeing, Cat. etc.

I can't find damn near anything in my house labeled "Made in the USA".

Who is “they”? Got an address? I always wondered where “they” were.

The purpose is to bring about a 'New World Order', with one world government, etc.

Sorry having problems posting.

“Who is “they”? Got an address? I always wondered where “they” were.”

They are the Trilateral Commission, CFR, and Bilderberger Group. The Rockerfeller Family was involved in founding all three.

The purpose is to bring about a ‘New World Order’, with one world government, etc.

I keep reading this, but it sure is hard to find them in the stores.

Here a short, interesting article on the subject:

/Leading Manufacturer

And this statement from the article:

Thirty years ago, U.S. producers made 80 percent of what the country consumed, according to the Manufacturers Alliance/MAPI, an industry trade group. Now it is about 65 percent.”

The reality is, most inventions and innovations have taken place in the West, and to some extent Japan. The manufacture of most modern products took place first in the US and other Western nations. This has really been a process of transferring manufacturing which started in the West to cheap labor nations.

A stat that showed the US share of total, worldwide manufacturing output now and 10, 20, 30, 40 and more years ago would tell us more about this trend of moving manufacturing from the US.

You do realize that we now count fast food restaurants as an “industry”, right?

McDonald's isn't an industry? They had $23.5 billion in sales last year. $4.3 billion in net income. So what were they?

If you're confused and meant to say that Big Macs count as manufactured goods, you're mistaken.

There was some talk a few years back about changing the classification of food preparation (including fast food) workers from service to manufacturing. I had heard that they actually did it, but a google turned up nothing but articles that said it was being considered. Its not that this would have added that much more to the value of manufactured goods, but it would have swelled the number of “manufacturing” jobs by a lot (> 2M). This would also have had the advantage of making loss of real manufacturing jobs seem less acute than it actually is.

By what measure?

I'm not sure which of my statements you're replying to.
