Childless on Father's Day-Abortion clinics scapegoat dads
The Washington Times ^ | 6/21/09 | The Washington Times

Some kids will be surprising their fathers with breakfast in bed this weekend, while others will present a gift inscribed with the phrase, "world's best dad." Some men, though, will only be reminded of the heartache from losing the opportunity to become fathers. They are the third victims of abortion.

The story of a man abandoning a woman after getting her pregnant has become the stereotypical image of pro-abortion activists and some pro-lifers. The male shirker is central to the abortion storyline and often is used to rationalize taking the life of a baby.

The denigration of fatherhood is hand in glove with the Left's attack on marriage - it is critical to their demolition of the family as the basic unit of society.

The greatest thing I have ever done is marry a lady that has provided two wonderful children. I praise the Lord for the gifts he has given me.

As a teenager I never forgot a story told to my church youth group about the son of the speaker. How his girlfriend had become pregnant. She was a few months along, just starting to show, and he was excited about being a father when he decided to propose to her. He had brought her flowers and was very excited until he saw her. Her belly that had started to show just a little was now flat.

And with that, other dominoes will fall.

You ever heard of the domino effect?

That is a very true statement. And yes, in an abortion, the father’s wishes are disregarded. He’s only the brood stallion. As a woman, the death of a child should not be solely the woman’s decision.

Not to blow my own horn, but I have stayed with my wife during the labor and birth of all six of my children, have seen them stir and pink up and rejoiced in it, and I reject the notion that most dads would want their children to be aborted. I think those guys who do are in a distinct minority and are beneath contempt. Happy Fathers Day to all dads everywhere!

This doesn’t even take into account the disappointed prospective Grandparents. Grandparents who offered every degree of support possible to the young folks. Tears.

Wow, another liberal gem, the deadbeat “inpregnators”: Talk about a slap in the face of pedophile rapists who pay for a clinic an abortion and a Planned Parenthood ticket from prosecution. (sarcasm)

From someone that has done the same, even with the same amount of children, I agree.

Quite so, Oldexpat - and I have in my extended family Grandparents and willing fathers who have been so affected - with heartrending results!

A good friend of mine told me just 2 months ago that he had recently been contacted by his first love, the girl he dated from age 19, and the one he thought sure he would marry, until she had suddenly dropped him.
He’s been single a couple of years now, and had tried to contact this woman through her parents, but had learned at that time that she was married.
Now she’s not, and she wanted to see him again; over several days, they talked by phone, until he finally asked her why she had dropped him so many years ago.
She said she had been pregnant, and he thought he was about to learn that he had another child, but then she said she’d gotten an abortion.

He hasn’t spoken to her since, and he was still pretty upset when he told me this story.

That is a first-rate editorial, one of the most original and well thought-out I have read in a long time. Whomever wrote it deserves a great deal of positive recognition for a job well done!

Abortion is a tragedy. The irresponsible, coldhearted man makes an easy scapegoat, but the sad story is rarely that simple. Many men want to keep their babies or to help comfort their partners during the horrors of abortion. These are inconvenient truths for the abortion industry, which would rather demonize men and keep business flowing.

Kudos to the Washington Times. This piece would never appear in the Post.

One of the main reasons I tell my sons not to have sex outside of marriage is: it is likely any child resulting from same will end up killed.

Yes, if you marry a woman and she gets pregnant, she may still abort. Statistically, though, it is rare.

Virtually every woman who came to me abortion minded during my career as a CPC counselor was unmarried.

Only one married woman aborted her child (her husband wanted her to, anyway). That’s in three years of counseling work.

Some may say, why not tell them to just use protection?

Because the majority of pregnant teens and women I counseled HAD used protection.

These liberals will hate men no matter what they do or don’t do.

If the man leaves the woman, they hate the guy for leaving her, but yet they’ll go ahead and do the abortion and get paid.

If the man begs her NOT to have the abortion, he’s interfering with her ‘right’ and they hate him for cutting into their profits.

If the man wants her to have the abortion and she doesn’t, they hate the guy although they will still do it and take her money.

There is no scenario where the man is the good guy for these liberal nutjobs. If he doesn’t want it, he’s bad. If he wants it, he’s bad.

And you liberal idiots, with your dumb-ass logic, if it isn’t a baby, how can the guy be abandoning “his” kid? IF it ain’t a baby like you claim, he hasn’t abandoned a child. There’s nothing to be responsible FOR if it’s just a piece of tissue that isn’t a person. Stupid liberal idiots.
