Aside from a briefly worded statement about a "friendly" conversation she had with an Army brigadier general after dressed him down a day earlier for calling her "ma'am," Sen. Barbara Boxer remained silent Friday in the face of growing criticism as to whether she owed an apology.

Hey Barabas,

Or should we just call ya' "Babs", "Broad", "Blinky", or "Blow Hard"?

I’m surprised he didn’t call her ‘sir’.

The word “Ma’am” was a recognition of her femaleness,

and she took it as an afront.

Nothing more than that...

The General should have known, you never address somebody with a female honorific if you can’t be sure whether or not they’re sporting a unit down there.

No, she doesn’t owe him an apology. The people of CA owe the apology for their lack of intelligence in repeatedly picking Boxer.

It is what it is. She stated her reason and the Brigadier General took it in stride. Unlike "senators", the General had to work his way up through all the ranks (and really earn his title), so he knows what to expect and how to roll with it. Otherwise, he wouldn't have made it to where he is.

(channeling lefty brain)..She was elected by The People...why should she apologize to some overgrown Boy Scout?

The Military is no where near the top of their "People of Respect" list.

She was right to rebuke him.

Calling someone ma’am is an expression indicating respect to a superior. On the other hand, “senator” is a expression used to describe someone who is grifting, sleazy, and two-faced — someone undeserving of respect. Senator is the proper address for someone like Barbara Boxer.

Ive always equated the title senator with low down rotten theavin'SOB.

Why is that something to be proud of?

Beck did a very funny rant about Boxer today. He’s right she should have been the one showing the respect.

Wasn’t her response, “I worked so hard to grow this mustache”?

I know is his position the general had to call her senator, but it would have been wonderful if he kept calling her Ma’am. I wonder what she would have done?

Did she address him as General? I doubt it because this radical leftist despises the military.
He should have said to her “I’m sorry, Ma’m, you are not in my chain of command and I don’t take orders from you. Henceforth you will refer to me as General, Sir!”

Ma’am and No sir are instilled in southern children from almost birth. It is a sign of respect. If she thinks the word “senator” is more respectful that Ma’am then she’s in for a shock - hardly anyone respects the word senator any longer. She’s amusing and delusional.
