I wish Sarah Palin would just go away.
During the 2008 presidential campaign, I wrote about the unfair personal treatment to which the political press corps subjected Palin and her children. Now I just want her to stop milking her role as GOP martyr.
Palin should stick to her day job -- by which I mean, governing Alaska, not being fodder for talk-show humor.
Both parties have their umbrage industries -- thanks to true believers, who love nothing better than to see themselves as victims of a perceived double standard. Last week, comedian David Letterman's two off-color jokes about a Palin family trip to New York led to an orgy of indignation.
Yes, I know that a politician's family -- especially their minor children -- is supposed to be off-limits. Letterman apparently thought he was joking about 18-year-old teenage mom Bristol Palin, unaware that 14-year-old Willow Palin went to Yankee Stadium.

Some people can walk and chew gum at the same time. While Palin is rightly ripping David Letterman for being an ass (and refusing to concede the moral high ground to the rot of liberal TV writers), she also closed the deal for a major natural gas pipeline. Please, Debra - try to get more news into your viewpoints about Palin than what you read in the entertainment press.
Yep. Apparently it was an inside job with Letterman so she could “milk her role as GOP martyr.” I’m surprised we didn’t figure this out earlier. Now it’s all so clear.

I am sick and tired of conservatives letting liberals walk all over them in so many ways without any repercussions. Palin’s actions serve to convince me she is the only conservative out there with any stones, sad to say.

Sarah Palin has become the voice of conservative Republicans in a way that cannot be thwarted by the RINOs, who want absolutely no, zero conservative voice in the Republican party. Such people despise Democrats as untermensch, but they favor even Democrats above conservatives.
The dire result of having RINOs run the Republican party is the same as what happened to the post-Thatcher British government. The Tories were gutted, the liberal Tories taking control, and leaving no real alternative to Labour *policies*. At that point, the Tories stopped being a party of opposition, and became complicit with Labour in undermining British society.
Only after all these years, with the rise of the UKIP and even the BNP, do those opposed to Labour policies finally have a voice. And conservatives in the US would be in the same boat—out of power until they formed a successful third party.
Successful only because the Democrat liberals and the Republican liberals had screwed up the country so much that the popular revulsion finally spawned an alternative. “Anyone but liberals.”

I don’t know what is wrong with them. Do they not understand how to win? I never see this kind of rank breaking from the left. Have you ever heard a Democrat say “I wish Jimmy Carter would just go away?” or maybe “Hillary should just go away”?
