What Rush did was nothing compared to Letterman. Nothing. I’m sorry I brought it up, but I was responding to what someone else said. I love Rush. I loved his tv show which is where Rush’s Chelsie problem happened. (tv is NOT Rush’s best venue, but I loved the show nonetheless.) It’s been a very long time, and I’ve birthed 9 babies since then, so my memory is probably flawed. My husband probably can recall more specifically what happened, but I have a picture in my head of the not so attractive pre-teen Chelsie and a picture of a dog being flashed on the screen. Maybe somebody else could elaborate or correct me. Hubby is at work and may or may not remember specifics. I’m sure my husband laughed. But as everyone has pointed out, Rush didn’t talk about sexual molestation or assault of a minor.
Not to make any excuses for Letterman, but he (and his audience) likely assumed that the Palin girl at the game was Bristol (who is, what, 19?), who, of course, got knocked up by her boyfriend last year, and thus made the crude and unfunny “joke.” I can’t imagine that Letterman or his audience would laugh about a 30-something ballplayer having sex with a 14-year-old girl. If Letterman thought he was making a joke about A-Rod and Bristol, it is still out of bounds, but not as sickening as it would be to make the same joke about 14-year-old Willow.
Contessa Brewer can't see anything offensive at all about calling Sarah Palin a slut or the thought of her minor daughter being raped front and center at a baseball game. But call that biased and she gets spittle-flecked angry.
Double standard? Not at all. The left has one consistent standard; nothing too demeaning can possibly be said of the right and not the slightest criticism of the left is acceptable.
I remember the incident with Rush. He said “we all know that there’s a White House cat, but did you know there’s also a White House dog?” And at that point they showed the picture of Chelsea.
Not Rush’s finest moment on TV, to say the least.
(BTW, my nominee for Rush’s finest moment on TV was when he kept playing and replaying Ted Kennedy (at a 1994 rally with Bill Clinton) saying “and after you re-elect old Kennedy, we’ll go out and re-elect Bill Clinton, [mumble mumble mumble]”; after several hilarious minutes, Ruch clued us in that Kennedy was saying (in reference to Clinton) “as unelectable as any of us.”)
“birthed 9 babies” god bless you and your family. Obviously you are doing more for humanity than I am. :>)
Regardless of the Arod “joke” he later made a “joke” about Willow being a prostitute for Eliot Spitzer.
That’s it! I would love to see those shows again. We watched almost every night. Those were the days when hubby and I would have to pull over on the side of the road because we were laughing so hard to feminist updates and the like. :-)
Thank you. We are very blessed! (we have 10—one was born prior to the Rush Limbaugh tv show.)
Actually I heard Rush say something about Letterman’s during the game comment, like, it should be AFTER the game? What was that? I hoped I had heard wrong since I was working and only half listening. (half working?)
If you’ve never watched them, how do you know their humor is distasteful? You’re right about Letterman, he’s pure scum. Conan is hit or miss, but Leno is usually pretty good. Letterman is offensive and it’s almost impossible to offend me.
I thought her name was Chelsea.
Did you change it?
Chelsea Victoria Clinton (born February 27, 1980)
It's awesome to know what the hell you are talking about.
Perhaps that is why you quote a radio actor, to pretend you know something.
You can never accuse a liberal of hypocrisy because they don’t have that many principles.
If that were true he would be all over TV today apologizing profusely for his error and his bad joke.
But he's not.
He meant this because he hates Sarah Palin and her whole family.
He's morally sick and needs to be fired and watched by the police.
The definite low point of Rush's career, worse than the oxy.
He says what's he's told to say. So the real question is, who is benefitted by what he says?
Give it up.
I have thought the same thing. That would be the true test to those who simply shrug and say, “He’s an entertainer. It’s comedy.”
this continuing corruption of the nation & our youth reminds me of the book title “Slouching towards gomorrah”.
“But evil men and impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.” 2 Tim 3:13
“and there must be no filthiness and silly talk, or coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.”
Eph 5:4
Contessa Brewer is a nasty piece of work. When Zeigler got the best of her, she shrieked “Cut his mike!”
Typical liberal.
MSM are becoming more and more Fascist. Mussolini enjoyed raping female reporters who came to interview him, right there in his office.
Would Contessa like that?
