The hunt is reportedly on in Israel for a mattress stuffed with a million dollars.A Tel Aviv woman claims to have thrown out her mother's mattress when she bought her a new replacement as a surprise.
Her distraught elderly mother then revealed she had hidden her life savings of $1m (£700,000) inside.

And it was just about *that time* that her daughter — also — became distraught.... LOL...
This makes me wonder how many money stuffed mattresses have been tossed out over the years. There are lots of grandmas and grandpas who have passed on who may not have trusted the banks.
Guess this lady should have had the courtesy to ASK PERMISSION before she threw away SOMEONE ELSE’S property!
ATF would have been proud of the search I did when my father passed. He was known for hiding things. Found some interesting stuff (WW2 souvenirs,etc), but no million dollars.
When My grandfather passed away we found money stashed all over the apartment in cereal boxes,coffee cans,stuck in pages of newspapers in draws.

Ummmm..,. I know of many a spouse who has had to go to the trash can to pull something out of it that they’ve wanted... (put in there by the other spouse... LOL...).

In a similar vein, I had an employee once that had to spend two days searching through every book in his grandmother’s house. They found about $10k in small bills stuck between the pages.
AND, she had bank accounts with every single bank in the county.
What a nightmare.

Married 20 years here. Probably in no small part due to the fact I don’t throw out my wife’s stuff without permission.
