Or there’s the possibility that much of this stuff is terror related and we’re just being flat out lied to...

Kinda like when banks get hacked and they issue new cards as quietly as possible ("a routine account update for your protection").

As I have posted before, I heard on an initial radio report (the morning of the crash), a list of countries the passengers were from.

On the list were 2 Syrians. I remember specifically because of terrorism of course.

I’ll bet a ‘new’ mode of operation will be to take control over cell-phone-coverage-less regions of the globe. Oceans. Could be that they failed to get into the cockpit at that time and opted to just take the plane down.

The passenger and attendent distraction from a bad storm would only help terrorists to take over.

I was reading a pilot message board when terrorism came up and someone discounted it with saying they would want to take credit. One of the pilots reminded everyone about how the Pan Am flight took off late or would have been over the Atlantic when it blew up and that no one took responsibility right away. Then there was the shoe bomber who was going to blow up the plane over the Atlantic.

Some said that for DoD to make a determination that there was no terrorism right away was wrong.

My bank reissued my credit card and sent out a statement about why. And it was because it had been used at a place where the accounts had gotten hacked.

I asked the bank manager about it and she said that it’s far easier and cheaper for them to just reissue new cards to everyone involved than wait to see whose number got stolen and used and then deal with fraud.

By closing the accounts, it rendered all the stolen numbers useless.

I'm not a conspiracy fan by any stretch of the imagination but this is in the back of my mind as well.

There was a thread a few days back about people on the plane able to send text messages out. A lot of comments were skeptical of that. Has anything more been determined about whether or not any text messages were sent?

>Or there’s the possibility that much of this stuff is terror related and we’re just being flat out lied to to avoid panic, or retaliation, or hurting certain industries, or demanding the border be closed, or any number of self-serving reasons by the government whose job it is to protect us and they aren’t.

Amen. Meanwhile we are being led in a chorus of kumbaya while
America’s destruction is being plotted.

(CNN) — At least 12 airplanes shared the trans-Atlantic sky with doomed Air France Flight 447, but none reported any problems, deepening the mystery surrounding the cause of the plane’s disappearance.

Airlines confirmed that at least a dozen aircraft departed roughly at the same time and traversed approximately the same route, but did not report problematic weather conditions.

Boy you hit it right squarely on the head. The rush to call a “crash” a malfunction was obvious on TWA Flt. 800 and it appears the French are not doing so.

But then again, they don’t have Clinton either do they?

Also, that hotel attack in Pakistan yesterday... has anyone "claimed responsibility" for that? No? Was it a gas leak then? :)

Heck, go back to the attack on the Indian hotels. Were those ever "claimed" either?

I'm not saying that the Air France thing is for sure a terrorist event, but the days of terrorists claiming their work publicly is probably over, at least at the sophisticated level.

My initial thought was that the “bomb threat” was designed to:

A) Test for reaction/procedure taken by security

and/or

B) Test to see if they could locate a dummy device.

Once it was clear they couldn’t find anything, these guys boarded the ill-fated flight a couple days later and did what Richard Reid couldn’t finish. Maybe not a shoe bomb, per se, but something they could detonate while on the plane.

I’m still open to the “mechanical” explanation, but if so, the presence of these two on the flight is an incredible coincidence. If there were no bomb threat previous to this, I would lean towards mechanical, but the details are pushing towards sabotage.

Then there was the shoe bomber who was going to blow up the plane over the Atlantic.

Not to mention Ramsi Yusef's grand plan to blow up ten jumbo jets over the Pacific Ocean.

To add to WhistlingPasttheGraveyard’s points about terrorists not always taking credit...

Just because the general public may not know the details of a certain event—any event, not just terrorism—does not mean that nobody does. It just means decisions have been made not to disseminate that info just yet, if at all.
