PARIS (AFP) — US President Barack Obama and his family received a hero's welcome in Paris on Saturday as they were given a private tour of the famed Notre Dame cathedral.

Thousands of cheering Parisians and tourists lined bridges over the River Seine as the presidential motorcade swept past, desperate for a glimpse of Obama, his wife Michelle, 10-year-old Malia and seven-year-old Sasha.

Applause and whistles erupted as Obama's 20-vehicle motorcade pulled in to the large square in front of the cathedral, closed off to the public specially for his visit.

With Paris abuzz, the presidential party spent more than a hour being given a tour of the 12th century cathedral, considered one of the finest examples of French gothic architecture in the world.

“Applause and whistles erupted as Obama’s 20-vehicle motorcade pulled in to the large square in front of the cathedral, closed off to the public specially for his visit.”

...

“Security was tight around Notre Dame — located on Ile de la Cite, an island in the heart of Paris on the River Seine — with sharp shooters in place and a helicopter hovering overhead. Police had earlier cleared out the cathedral.”

How much did this cost?

The only reason the world loves King Obama is they applaud him taking down the only super power left in the world. America was too successful, up until now.

I realize it’s not a large enough sample to draw any kind of empirical conclusion but I’ve only met 10 french people in my life and they were all a-holes.

If the world was really honest about it, they would admit that this another version of “every body loves a freak show”???

Aren't the massive underwires usually built INTO the brassiere? It seems somewhat odd to wear them outside one's clothes.

Looks like one of the militant bicyclists from my town of Columbia, MO
is on vacation in France.

They got a Federal grant for something like $20 MILLION to promote
non-car transporation under a program called “Get Around Columbia”.
They are now viewed widely as A—HOLES that love to stall traffic
during morning rush hour on West Broadway and other major traffic arteries
here in Columbia.

Nice work. Getting millions of dollars EXTRACTED BY FORCE from
productive citizens. Then slowing them down on their way to work.
Even when putting their own children at risk on major traffic arteries.
Yep, you’ll see some of these bicycling zealots pulling a child carrier
behind their bicycles on some of the most heavily traveled streets
during rush hours. Fortunately, this is not California. Because some
prominent locals have recognized these nutburgers for the freaks they are.

It’s been fun to hear the radical bicyclomaniacs excoriated on the
local Columbia Business Roundtable on local KRFU 1400AM on Sunday
mornings 8AM to 10AM.

And please note: a number of the panel on the Columbia Business Roundtables
are bicycling enthusiast for decades.
As I have been.
