Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor has sent a Senate panel a massive portfolio of personal details and writings that lawmakers will pore over with a fine-tooth comb to shape the debate on her confirmation.
The five boxes of files delivered to Capitol Hill gave senators a fuller picture of Sotomayor's background and record, as well as of how President Obama came to nominate his first Supreme Court choice.
They came in response to a questionnaire the Senate Judiciary Committee sends federal court nominees.
The documents described Sotomayor's finances, which paint a portrait of a New Yorker in an expensive neighborhood who may be living largely paycheck to paycheck.
She has $1.16 million in assets, but $418,350 in debts, including her mortgage, credit card bills and a big dentist bill. Previous financial disclosure reports showed her with an annual income of about $200,000.

It would appear that she needs to have some of her wealth spread around to get into 0be heaven.
How about tax audit.
Getting into that kind of debt doesn’t strike me as being very wise, Latina or not.
I think it could bite her.
That’s not that much debt for someone who lives in NY. I bet the majority of her debt is mortgage on her home.

$400,000 in debt that INCLUDES a NY-area mortgage isn’t much. Not with $200k/year in income.

Not enough to sustain what seems to be a high end life style. Of course, like many pols, there are many willing (friends?) to help out for a little payback down the road.
That’s not the original title.
And, as others have noted, the debt is a NY mortgage.
With the mortgage the debt doesn’t bother me.
What bothers me is her judicial grasp of the U.S. Constitution, in particular the 1st, 2nd, and 14th Amendments, and the need to remain to the founding principles.
I don’t think she’s qualified to be a SCOTUS Justice from what I’ve heard about her vision for the U.S.
About how much would the payments be on a $400K mortgage? Plus NY taxes?
Sounds like a lot to have to pay out of a $200K salary, but what do I know.
