Israel Betancourt is an American of Mexican descent. He was born in the border town of Laredo, Texas, in 1977. And his birth was assisted by a midwife.
Those three factors raised a red flag for the U.S. Department of State when the Lincoln resident applied for a passport back in March, a passport he still hopes to obtain so he can vacation in Cancún with his wife and two young daughters.
No one informed Betancourt that his American citizenship was in question before – not in all the presidential elections he's voted in, not when he served in the Marines and not when he first became an emergency medical technician a decade ago. His father, a U.S. citizen, also served in the Marines.

Israel Betancourt should sue for 14th amendement protection, especially since he proved where his loyalties lie while serving in the U.S.M.C. ObaMao has accomplished nothing more than winning an Americal Idol competition.
It was my first thought and I hope he uses it in court.
I'm rolling my eyes so far I can see the back of my brain. Imagine the hue and cry if any precinct asked to see somebody's passport before handing them a ballot.

This has happened to my brother’s wife in Presidio, TX. Lived here all her life - born with help of a mid-wife. makes her passport something she can’t get easily. They’ve given up!

I hope he rakes the bureaucrats over the coals. The fist thing he should do is call his Congress critters, and then find a good civil liberties attorney.
Bureaucrat bullies love to torment law-abiders because they go home feeling that they have ‘done their job.’ They know that they cannot bully the true law scoffers, because a) it is ineffectual, or b) there will most likely be recriminations.
The real question-—why is this guy being raked over the coals while millions of illegals go on their merry way through our streets every day, totally undisturbed? Real, actual and undisputed ILLEGALS, that is! Anybody have the answer??
After further review....is this a sob-story case, deliberately set up by the Hussein “we must make all illegals into citizens”? I don’t know, but I certainly wouldn’t put it past them.

You would hope that Obama had to do the same thing when he got his passport.
