An autopsy determined the child suffered a fractured skull and a subdural hematoma due to blunt trauma. The Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the manner of death a homicide. The explanation given by Brumfield was inconsistent with the injuries found.
which would be consistant with the story that the child fell. The extent of head injuries are often not apparent until death ensues. I had a friend whose son fell down the stairs one morning. He seemed fine. That afternoon he slowed down a bit. They were going by a hosptial and she decided, more on a whim, just to have him looked at. He walked through the door and a doctor looked up and saw him, and he was in neurosurgery five minutes later. She was told he had about fifteen minutes left before the pressure on his hind brain would have cause instant death.
So I would not be so smug.
Smug?
Whether the child was abused or died in an accident, I think it’s a terrible thing to have happened. How is that smug?
