Patrick Bibb, a 19-year-old from Dallas, glanced at his cell phone. He was in the middle of his economics class at Texas Christian University on a February morning. His caller ID read withheld.
He decided not to answer. When class ended, he checked his messages and found that George W. Bush had been trying to reach him.
The sophomore listened to the voice mail. He heard the former president of the United States thank him at least four times.
Bush was happy that the teenager had been selling welcome home george & laura signs for $20 to people all over Bush's neighborhood in Texas. "I hope this message is sufficient" to show appreciation, Bibb heard Bush say. Bibb dutifully listened, hung up and went to his other classes.
Bibb, a budding entrepreneur, had decided to make and sell the signs after he learned that the former president would be moving close to his parents' house. The placards went up all around the exclusive Preston Hollow neighborhood in North Dallas, which is studded with homes worth $5 million to $20 million. Bibb used some of the profits to pay his tuition and decided to donate the rest to a nearby elementary school.
He settled into accounting class. His phone rang again. Bibb decided to pick up. "Excuse me, I need to go to talk to the president," Bibb wisecracked to a pal as he left the room. It was Bush again.

"Bibb's not the only one. Molly Vilbig, who lives nearby, believes Bush had gotten word that her grandson had once tried, at the tender age of 6, to donate $1 to the first Bush for President campaign."

Thanks, siamesecats. I *knew* Pres. Bush would track down the welcome sign entrepreneur and thank him.
His afterlife? Is perchance the reporter wishing he were dead?
OK.....everybody pony up ten bucks and let’s get this FReepathon over....
Thanks.
~~PING!
He’s still my guy...
I thought you were a fabulous President, George W Bush. If I ever had a chance to tell you so in person it would be an honor and a privilege.
This guy has a long history of writing about
Pres. Bush, and you’ll see the rest of the
article gets much less chirpy.
DITTO!

I visit Dallas’ Grimaldi’s pizza parlor often here in the D/FW Metroplex... if Mr. & Mrs. Bush dropped into the McKinney Ave. pizza parlor... I’d buy two pizzas ... one for me and one for the President and First Lady... no slices offered there ;-)
I sure wasn't happy with a lot of things he did, but every time I would compare him to the Klintoon, it reminded me of what a nice gentleman he is. I like that he's a family man, appears to adore his wife and daughters, and was really impressed when his daughter got married and it was not a circus event! Apparently, she had a very nice wedding--nothing splashy ala the Johnson girls, just a very nice down home wedding at the ranch.
I wish we had someone in the wings with his dignity, but without his middle of the road baggage.
Yeah, I quit when I got to the “lucrative speaking fees” part.
No one is going to do more to ensure the great legacy of George W. Bush than the current occupant of his old residence, Barack Hussein Obama.
I posted on here back in March or so after having seen the President his first time back at church in Dallas. As I entered the Sanctuary for the next service there he was greeting well-wishers who were lined up deep to welcome him back. He looked tanned, fit, rested and smiling ear to ear. That was so good to see as I had wondered what the years of bashing might’ve done to him emotionally and physically.
what a crap article...
There is one question I would like to ask our former president, Sir why did you amend Executive Order No.12958, on the date of March 25, 2003. To all the changes(Deletions) (Additions)you performed on, Executive Order No. 13292 ? If I remember correctly you got our country into a war in March? I think it would interesting to hear his response, regarding all these changes he made to the Executive Order, that he would be allowed to explain?
Bump for later reading. I gotta get to bed!
George W. Bush has been the unqualifiedly BEST POTUS since Reagan. Its a pity that there are so many nasty, petty, mean, small, shriveled people out there who are always out to take a free potshot at the man who has kept them safe for the last 8 years.
I sometimes marvel at the idiocy of people.
Classy man.
